I found an interesting set of lectures by Leonard Susskind on Quantum Entanglement. There are 5 of them titled Part 1.
Lecture 1 | Quantum Entanglements, Part 1 (Stanford)powered by Aeva

It's interesting, but trying to keep up has my head spinning.
Unfortunately, as I've only completed lecture 3, I'm unable to calculate the probability the the spin is either up or down.  uglystupid2

I still say that Spooky Action at a Distance is horseshit.

From what I read, I think it's pretty well been demonstrated. Now whether or not it will ever prove useful is another question.
One thing that I seem to gather is that even though you have a pair of particles entangled, they themselves aren't doing anything special. It's the field in which they are entangled that does something spooky. It almost seems the field manages to inhabit two points of space at the same time. It doesn't seem to really communicate at a distance. It does the only thing it can (collapse) once, then disappears. You just see the collapse at both of the points of space it inhabits.

I know it just seems like witchcraft.

See Arthur C Clarke's Three Laws, specifically #3:

Quote
1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
