-32 in Mountain City, Tennessee.

That matched a lot of other states and bested a few.

Would not have thought that.

West Virginia  -37    Dec. 30, 1917     Lewisburg          2,200

I remember being up there one winter... I went down to see the Greenbrier River, it was
frozen. I usually would only be there in the summer, so seeing the river frozen
was very strange to me. There was a railroad spike, I threw it in an arc as far and
as high as I could toward the center of the river, and it bounced. It doesn't
get -37 down here in South Carolina  cooldude ... it wasn't -37 that day, either, but
it was cold...

I remember, that same trip, seeing cows standing in frozen fields next to frozen ponds, it just
didn't seem possible that they could stand it...

We had a white Christmas last year... that's only happened two or three times in my life... it was
a little chilly today, like spring the last few days... a lot of winters we'll have a week or so where
it doesn't get above freezing, its awful  Smiley ...

We've had a cold Christmas in past years, in the teens and twenties. This year, not so much, think it hit 79 or close to it today. Been in the mid-upper 70's for the last couple weeks, hit 85 I believe it was Friday. Was a new record high for that date, a bit unusual though. It's not normally this warm at this time of year but I don't have to shovel it. Beautiful riding weather, kinda makes up for the summer months when you can't stand to ride due to the heat and humidity.

As for me, I'm just glad the hoopla is all over for another year. I'm not a Grinch, it's just all the commercialization that starts before Halloween. By the time 12/25 gets here I'm sick of it, just can't stay all that enthused for nearly three months.

I fished once on Norris Lake at 5 degrees.

I rode a motorcycle at 17 degrees and it did not reach freezing temp of 32 all day.

25 was the high.

Gerbings were worn, but my feet got chilly was all.

Came back from Dragons on the beach one year, started out pretty nice a balmy 35.

Ended up in tennessee later that day about 12 midnight home.

Riding gear included, Leather Jacket, long sleeve t-shirt. leather chaps, leather boots, socks, tourmaster subzero gloves.

No long underwear, no gerbings, coldest I have ever been.

Literally could not feel my legs at all.

That was painful.

I used to ride like that in cold weather like that all the time.

Tough or stupid maybe both, but now have heated gear.

Pretty nice I'll say.

We here in AZ are teased about our dry heat, but with altitude we get a lot colder. Our coldest temp was -40F in Hawley Lake at 8100 ft. Many years ago I was coming home from snow skiing. As we dropped altitude, we passed a turnoff for Roosevelt Lake and a truck towing a ski boat pulled out in front of me. I followed him back into Phx with snow skis on my roof and a ski boat with waterskis on his boat. Only in AZ!!

To think that it was a tradition for me to ride on New Years Day here in Indiana. No more, can't handle cold much anymore.
