They let  me go home after 4 hours.  The surgeon told Patty they fixed the three tears in my rotator cuff They gave me a shot, felt real  good for 30 seconds, then I woke up, very strange. Got a nerve block in my shoulder, its scary not feeling your arm or being able to use it. Its kind of wearing off now, but I got some good pain meds. Kind of like old times, buzzed at midnight and unable to sleep. I better stop typing!

A few days ago , I realized I have the same thing with my left .

Did you try ultra sound  and therapy  ? Or did you go straight to surgery ?
What was the cost ?

MRI showed this side, left was torn real bad in three places, one was torn through. I did not get the bill yet, but I have insurance through my job.  My right shoulder has rc issues and i have had pt on it but they will not do ultra sound because i had cancer and i would need the oncologist to sign a release soooo no u s

Going in this Friday at 11:00 am to have my left one done - looks like New Years Eve is a bust!
Had my right one done 2 years ago, glad I did. Took about 6 months to get all the way back to normal
but it still works great. From what I've read and heard from others, the best success comes from getting it fixed soon after the injury is realized. PT afterward sucks though - them girls was mean.
They didn't ease up till I had tears in my eyes. But you have to do it to get your shoulder to loosen back up. John

Take the pain pills........ but beware, they will constipate you like a bag of concrete.

Oxycontin (vicodin) goes very well with Fleet enema.   crazy2

I'm just sayin.

Great news on the surgery. Hang tough big guy, you can handle the meds and pt. Hoping we can both ride come spring.

he is going to be like me and think "hey that wasn't too bad, just can't move this arm".  Then it wore off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.  Be sure and go to the THERAPY and though it will hurt, do what they tell you.

Heal well.  Good time of the year to have it done. Relax, mend up, go through therapy, and you'll thank yourself once you start riding again.

Keep us posted with your progress.

they just had a newss segment with some really REALLY good pain killers. in the vicodin/oxyconton family. the down side is they are REALLY addictive.

thank you all so much. great advice from good friends. i know a bit about pain meds, i am taking plain oxycodone 5 mg's with aspirin on the side. i try to stay away from tylenol, bad for the liver. icing it up works real good. patty ann is taking real good care of me. sleeping is rough so i nap a lot.
again thanks, you meet the nicest people on a honda lol1

I've read this thread a couple times without posting just to check in to see how your doing.
Reason is I had both my shoulders done and I spent the better part of three years getting over it! It's only been about the last six months that I have felt normal ..... doing most of what I did, before the repairs.
I don't know my neighbors that well although I did know that the one lady was a nurse of sorts. She asked me how my shoulder were doing. As it turns out, it's this type of stuff that is her expertise.
I would only take my meds at night so I could sleep.  uglystupid2 I had to sit in a chair as lying down was impossible.  She insisted that I take them during the day as well to help the healing process along. She was most likely right as I suffered a lot before talking with her.  Cry  Stay out of pain if you can is my advice.
I hope you heal faster than I did.
