Denise made the arrangements to take our 15yr old pup to the vet for the last time. Cookie has been a great dog and friend and she will be missed daily. She was the rut of a litter that someone dumped at the vets office where our daughter was working and dispite my gripping she brought her to the house.
About the time Cookie showed up Denise started to suffer from her illness ( which the doctors thought was MS ) so Denise had plenty of time to bond.
I'm working tomorrow so I get off easy as the the task will be completed before I get off. Sorry this ran on so long but I needed to talk.

Sad that you're having to go through this.  It's never easy and you never completely get over the loss.

I've been there and it is one of the hardest things I've ever done. But it's so much better than letting your loyal friend suffer.

The pain will go away but you'll always remember your pets.

I feel for ya Mr. B and Denise...  Like RM said, toughest thing I have done in a very long time.
July 9th of this year our beloved Xena (Warrior Princess) went to the rainbow bridge.  She is missed terribly.

Well it is done and she is gone. Walked by her bowl this morning going out the door to work and almost lost it. It's gonna take a while. Son's dog Frank is at the house for the holidays and he is doing his best to help us thru this tough time.      Frank is a 90lb dobe that still thinks he's a lap dog. Best natured dobe I've ever been arround. The granddaughter  put a dress on him, eye makeup and a watch and lead him into the kitchen by the collar so wife and I could see him.
Thanks for all the kind words.

Cookie had a good life, loved  and was loved.  That's the best a dog (or anyone) can do.

Mr. B and Denise,

Thinking of you.  This is such a hard thing to do.  Its been 5 months since we had to do the same and we still miss her daily.  We adopted a new fur kid last week, and I am having a hard time not comparing them and calling the wrong name.

Hugs,

+1 As hard as it is to let them go, this is 'the plan' for us and our pets. In my 61 years there have been many and I remember them all.
