Any recomendations for a rear tire make and size to use on the front?  I have a new E3 radial on the back now and a getting worn E3 on the front.  I am not pleased with the E3 front, it had an out of round condition from new and I want to replace it.  Can I use a 130/17 instead of a 150/17 on the front?

Sure, and many do, with the aim to getting more miles out of the tire.

Brand is up to you, you can go radial or bias ply. Remember that the size will affect the speedometer as it registers from the front wheel.

These figures are from a calculator, and may not reflect actual manufactured tire dimensions.
Stock is    tread height (radius)
150/80-17 120mm

130/90-17 117mm
140/80-17 112mm
140/90-17 126mm
160/70-17 112mm
150/70-17 105mm
150/80-17 120mm
150/90-17 135mm (may not fit, haven't tried it)

I have a D404 130/90-17 bias rear on front.

I used a 150/70/17 and it was a about  1 1/2 inches shorter than stock, making my speedo read fast.  It also lowered my front axel 3/4" making my pegs scrape sooner than I would like.

A 130/90/17 is closer to the correct height.
