This is from Classic Instruments and uses the GPS signal for input. You would have to change over to an electronic speedo similar to the one on the I/S. Something to think about if it's a big deal for you to have an accurate speedo. Just remember, in most cases the odometer on the factory is pretty accurate.

Why not just use the GPS on our bikes and have some change left over for Bling?

My GPS even tells me pretty close to what the actual speed limit is also.

My Valkyrie is a lot closer than my truck.    My truck is about 5 or 6 slow, depends on where ya are, Valkyrie is like 2 or 3 slow.    Damn, I never knew that, or I'd of driven in some of those places slower in the truck.

I'm with you Valker. The speedo/odometer on my bicycle is very accurate. As long as you set it up according to the size of tire/wheel it works great, matches the odo for distance on both cars.

RJ, agreed. I just tossed it out there for subject matter. If I'm worried about my speedo accuracy(which I'm not), I just mount the GPS to be on the safe side. Done it twice that I recall, never use it for finding directions but the wife thinks it's kinda cool so she plays with it on the road. I just use a map if I ever need directions. Followed a buddy of mine twice while he used his GPS, got lost both times. I promised I won't publicly harass him anymore so won't divulge his name, but lives in Arridzona and rides a red/white.  2funny

Miss ya buddy, wish you hadn't moved so darn far away.  cooldude

John, your statement about accurate speedo's doesn't make it for Vstroms. One of the most popular mods for the bike is a "black box' to make the electronic speedo accurate.  My speedometer is anywhere from 8 to 12% fast, depending on the speed.

Although I have a GPS, i used the old fashioned way to check it.  Mile markers and my chronometer watch.

I don't worry about it as I'm inclined to ride over the speed limit and it might fool me into keeping it down.  I can spend my dough for something else.

I actually don't mind my I/S speedometer showing that I am going faster than I think I am.  I don't get into trouble as much for speeding.

That's how I set up a friend's Valk a couple years ago. I adapted a different speedo and tach to it and used a device to correct the error. Checked with the local LEO's to see where they had their mobile sign set up that gives drivers a speed readout, then used it to set his new speedo to read about 3 mph fast. Told him it was a safety factor....safer for his wallet.  Wink
