I just hope Jesus aint wasting his time on a football game when there are so many other pressing issues that could use his help... you know... war, poverty... Tim must be a helluva guy... what with him thanking God for his performance... I just don't see how Jesus let him down today... looks like he prays a lot.

Yep, no miracle at Mile High today. Glad to see Orton beat his old team. Living in the Denver area, this Tebow thing has just worn me out.

Thanking the Lord for a God given talent is one thing. Asking him to help you win a football game is another. For all I know, he thanks the Lord and asks him to stop world hunger, end war, and cure cancer every time he bends his knee, Oh, and if you can spare the time, we could use a little help with this game, of course, if you're too busy, I understand. Thanks!
I'd rather see that than a bunch of "look how great I am" in your face showboating.

Yes!!! I am a lifetime football nut... played running back in I formation, triple option ball and ran back all punts and kickoffs. I never danced in the end zone; never even thought about it. My coach probably would have punched me in the face right on the sideline if I did. There were no individuals on my teams...only the team.
I am sick of the "ain't I great, look at me" showboating. They're already making a million bucks a game, so what's the big deal? It's fine to high five or jump/bump your team mates, but individual showoffs can draw 15 yards as far as I'm concerned. It is unsportsmanlike conduct.

tebow seems like a good kid to me. he's obviously a great athelete but has a lot to learn about playing qb in the nfl (and i think he'd be the first to admit it). i don't think he's using his faith to hurt or mislead people. i wish him the best.

I can't stand the Tebow phenomenon. It has nothing to do with his religion. I don't think for one minute that the man himself believe that god takes an active role in the outcome of games he plays in. I hear him praise god and thank him, but that's not the same thing. If his faith gives him strength then the lord is helping indirectly. I have no problem with the kid (who seems exceedingly well mannered and genuinely nice) saying so and offering thanks.
What bugs me about the phenomenon is the fact that as of right now he's just not a good NFL quarterback. Oh he may become one in a few years, but listening to announcers and analysts gush over the guy like he's the second coming of Montana or Elway is just laughable. He has not played a good game against a good team yet and even in his wins against bad teams he was often atrocious throughout 90% of the game. It's much ado about nothing. He hasn't earned any hosannas and yet he's showered with them.
Look, he's a good kid and I'd take him on the Patriots as Tom Brady's backup and eventual replacement any day. But people just need to take a few deep breaths into a paper bag and wave to a clue from shore.
What's really disgusting is that Pittsburgh (who I am NO fan of and loathe defending) is 12 and 4 and has to go on the road to play an 8 and 8 team that backed into the playoffs all because the Broncos play in a terrible division. The NFL needs to do something about that.

being that i live in wisconsin, i find it funny that when ever i want to hear anything about the packers i can't watch ESPN. they've got TEA-BO so far up their arse's that they almost look like him!!
i'd like to have a rematch with the Chiefs, and put in Flynn for one quarter. we'd have that perfect season, but you'd only hear about it as a fluke if you listen to ESPN......
i'm not a fanatic fan of the packers, i just find it disheartening to listen to the sports shows only talking about Tea-bo being some excellent QB, and the bronco's record is 8/8..... enough said, he's not that good.....

Actually I care very little about any sports and couldn't tell you who even played in the superbowl last year if you held a gun to my head. As a christian, I find it uplifiting to see a young man in the world of sports who is more interested in praising GOD then showing off his house and 10 cars on MTV's cribs. It appears to me that there are many that attack him only because of his religious views. And no, I don't feel that is shallow of me at all. Your free to believe in anything you wish and I dont judge you for it, I only ask the same courtesy from you.

I don't care much about any pro athletes, I feel that our society (for the most part) idolizes them and most of the ones they idolize have very poor character. As far as Tebow goes, I just happened to have the TV on and the local FOX channel had a short bit on him. He just flew a young boy diagnosed with terminal cancer out to his last game and signed some items for him on the sidelines. The boy (~5 or 6 YO) really likes Tebow, so as far as I'm concerned, he is one of the few who deserves the idolization. I could give a rats ass how good of a QB he is.

I am of the persuasion that if you can't say something nice about someone, it's best to just keep quiet. While I may choose to practice my faith differently than Tim Tebow, I still respect his commitment to God and his love for his fellow man in wanting to help them find the same peace and contentment that only a personal relationship with God can produce in our lives.
Jesus met with the same disrespect and hatred from the small minded and bigoted people of His day. Tim Tebow knows the truth of this verse:
Philippians 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
You on the other hand will eventually, (unless you accept the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for the sins of the whole world) shall suffer the same fate of all unbelievers.
2 Thessalonians 1:6-10 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
I have great respect for Tim Tebow, not only for all his accomplishments in sports but of his graciousness in the face of such venom filled remarks from such petty and ill-natured people who speak of things they know nothing about.
I almost always find your posts to be disgusting and seldom feel the need to stoop to your low level in responding, but I could not let this slight of a good man go by unanswered. I pity you and hope you can one day find what Tim Tebow knows to be the most valuable thing there is. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Tim loves the Lord I wish more had the guts to give credit where credit is due. Tebow was born in Makati City in the Philippines, to American parents who were serving as Christian Baptist missionaries at the time. His mother, Pamela Elaine (née Pemberton), is the daughter of a U.S. Army colonel, and his father, Robert Ramsey Tebow II, is a pastor.[1][10][11][12][13][14] While pregnant, his mother suffered a life-threatening infection with a pathogenic amoeba. Because of the drugs used to rouse her from a coma and to treat her dysentery, the fetus experienced a severe placental abruption. Doctors had expected a stillbirth and recommended an abortion to protect her life,[1] although abortions are illegal in the Philippines, but she remained undaunted and refused having an abortion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_TebowId say he has alot to be thankful for as Jesus said he healed 10 and only one came back to thank Him for the healing. When you taste the goodness of the Lord and dont allow the world to tramp you down you cant help but feel grateful. How much power do we have in our hands that one decision can make the difference between life and death. Mom didnt allow the words to sink in but believed the Lord if you have never done this you dont know the strength it requires. Try it for your own life and lets see how it changes Who's report do we believe. How small and inconsequential is one game when he is living his life blessed of the Lord that he got the chance to live and accomplish anything. My hats off to him and thanks for making me look-up his story.

I don't know much about Tim Tebow's qualifications for quarterback, I can't say that I'm a NFL fan. I am pretty sure that he's a better quarterback than I'd be. From what I have seen and read about Tebow his character is A++, and to accuse him of cheating on his wife (BTW he isn't married) and to place him in the same category with charletons like Swaggart and Baker is just plain wrong. Contrary to the humorous point of the OP, Jesus did save Tim Tebow and provided him with much more than winning a single football game would have done for his lifelong benefit.
A bit ironically, by ridiculing Tim's relationship with Jesus Christ, the OP has succeeded in amplifying the impact of Tim's witness and, in fact, exposing some to a deeper inspection of Tim's witness and faith.
One day Tim Tebow's NFL career will come to and end. One day Tim's life will come to an end x number of years after the doctor urged his mother to terminate it. Some may shake their heads and say, "I guess all that devotion to Jesus Christ did him no good."
Maybe they'll be right, but then again maybe they won't.

I dislike all end zone "shows". Period. Tebow looks as silly as the rest of 'em. Flip the ball towards the nearest zebra and get your butt back to the huddle or sidelines.

All you have to do is listen to the young man speak one time to understand his sincerity, honesty and, frankly, his innocence. People should not confuse Tim the football player with Tim the man. I enjoy football as a demonstration of teamwork, commitment and raw effort under fire. I like my team to win, but winning isn't everything. A man who plays his heart out is tops in my book, even if he loses. He's a rookie after all. And don't blame him because the press likes to sell sensation. But as a man, I think he's shown himself to be a pretty good role model to anyone walking on two legs. And politely demonstrating your faith in a football game is no sin ...........or infraction of the rules, yet.

Tim Tebow has never once in his life said Jesus has had any effect on the outcome of a game he was involved in. he has never credited Jesus with saving him in a game. He credits Jesus with saving his life, as many people do.

I wonder how many folks would be impressed by someone flipping out a prayer mat after a touchdown & facing Mecca to celebrate. I think Tebow is a fine young man, btw. I just can't stand personal displays in the end zone, and I think it cheapens the game.

IT IS a game. that's all. Doesn't impact my life one way or the other. I dislike the showboating, that's why Heath Miller is one of my favorites. Makes the play, gets up, hands the ball to the official, and runs back to the huddle. Like a professional should.

I'm betting the people who are all Gaga over Tebow's displays would not be so excited if his name was Mohammed Abdul. Personally I have no issue with what he does. It's quick and subdued. What I don't like is when it's done as a taunt to the opposition. Then it's unsportsmanlike. Quiet tributes and expressions of joy are okay in my book. We are human and have a right to our emotions. These guys work real hard at what they do.

Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent. But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent. Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep. In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.
