Im wanting to send a rider seat and passenger seat to have done with a backrest for each. Was wondering how everyone likes these seats and anything I have to have. My wife said we had to get new seats before she would ride very far again.

Not aware of a backrest for the passenger seat by Russell, but you never know... give them a call.
As far as the Russell seats in general, I have said it before; I have ridden with them all (except Corbin), stock, modified stock, post-2000 stock, Mustang, Ultimate, and now a Russell.
Russell, by far, is the best seat out there IMO for a long distance rider. I went from 300 miles per day until pain to 1500 miles per day (only once), but many 600-1000 mile days in complete comfort.
I would recommend them to anyone.

I'm happy with my Russel day long seat - and they did ask for passenger needs, weight ect, but I usually do not ride with a passenger - until this year

Russell is like riding on air. If you can afford it do it.

Question on the rider back rest, I'm using a reupholstered corbin seat with back rest that is still very uncomfortable. The back rest is pretty ridged, if I send this seat into RDL what other options are there for a back rest? That's one of the main reasons I've been looking at the Ultimate Seats.

Iirc, they won't re-do an aftermarket seat - factory pans only.

Not trying to start anything here but 1500 miles in a 24 hour period would require averaging 62.5 MPH for the entire 24 hours with no stops whatsoever. Did I miss something here?

I have 2 day-longs ... And love them.. Both have there back rests.. Due to the fact I had them move me up 5" closer to the tank .. Both firsts for them (Day-long) They could put the back rest on a solo seat... Why it looks so puffy in the back of the saddle... My other Day-long... They also moved me up 4" closer to the tank on this one... Highbinder also rides on Day-longs .. I think he has 2 or 3 of them now... ??? all for his Valks..... They do take a few miles to get use to ... But once you do ... Riding Long Distance will NEVER be an issue for your Butt....

Nope, your not starting anything... but it's true... in September of 2010 myself and my nephew did 1511 miles in 23.5 hours for an Ironbutt Association "Bun Burner GOLD (1500)" certificate. We started in Youngstown Ohio, rode around Lakes Erie & Ontario clockwise and then back across Ohio about 40 miles into Michigan and then back to Youngstown. Actually, 2640 others have done it as well: http://www.ironbutt.com/rides/rideslogin.cfm (password is shown to the right of the login box)I think our average ended up being right around 64.2 mph. Our only "long" stop was 20 minutes and the rest were just enough time to get gas and eat a granola bar at the same time. ...did it all in comfort on a Russell Day Long

love my Russell It arrived the day before I rode to Eureka Springs (took 2 days from Ossining NY) and on my arrival in late afternoon I was willing and able to do a group ride Its not the most visually beautiful seat in the world but to my Butt it is downright purdy could not imagine riding any long distance without it Now I dont know for sure why Lady Draco needs one as everytime I am riding with her she is standing and dancing on her trike but if she says its great I believe her. She and Don are far riders no doubt about it

I bought a Mustang passenger backrest and had it recovered by Russell to match the seats. The Mustang is curved (side to side) and cantered so it sits more vertical than the sissybar lean. They offer a rider backrest in their packages. Great people to work with, and an 18 month "no questions asked" warranty offer unmatched by any other company I found. I've had Mustang,Ultimate,Corbin and OEM before this one.

Gavinsons, I'm hoping you have your Russell Day Long seat by now and can give a review of how you like it so far. I just ordered one for my I/S and wish I had done it about 2 months ago. Production on mine is slated for May 18th...ouch! And then with shipping, I don't expect to see it till the first part of June. At least I'll have it by IZ. I'm really, really hoping it cures my butt burn that I get after about 180 miles.
