Author Topic: Top stearing head fork bearing seal  (Read 904 times)

rebuilding stearing bearings  When i took it apart noticed there was no seal on the top bearing. Parts fish dosent show one either... someone posted fork bearing replacement video for VTX well they show they had seal they put on before they put nut on top..Quistion is should there be one am I missing something??

Only been into the head bearings once on the Valk, no seal.
My 78 Goldwing is the same no top seal,

No seal required because it is protected by the top clamp covering everything thus keeping contaminating stuff away from the bearing.

The bottom bearing is different due to the fact it is sitting on top of the lower clamp and exposed to everything that comes by.

Pretty much normal arrangement for triple trees.

Thanks for info still think should be seal on top.. When took it apart the top bearing was gritty  all well proubly due anyway with milage and age  Thank you guys !!
