It's not just your humble opinion....it's lots of folk's opinion, including mine. Around here, they'll kill you and usually just walk away with a failure to yield ticket.

Not only can they not see us-when they do they can kill us and ONLY get 60 days. Just exactly W T F is WRONG with New York??? My bad-most likely not JUST N.Y. Be interesting to say the least to have the young mans family take on this. Even if you do RIDE SAFE-looks like it don't make any difference with people like her out there.

How do we change the laws? This has become the status quo but needs to be changed.

A biker has to be on the lookout at all times. You not only have to watch out for the ones that do not see you, you also have to watch out for the ones that do see you and still cut you off, crowd you off the road. I live and work in Columbus and hit rush hours, I see drivers look in the mirror, look right at me and still pull out and cut me off. We get no respect...... And people wonder why bikers get road rage!!

What a load of crap that is. It would have been one thing if she just screwed up while driving. But, no license, not stopping to try and help? Hit and run!!
She should have been sent away for quite a while.

You know, every time I enter a construction zone and see those signs, "Kill a worker, $10,000 fine, loss of license, 5 years" I think, WHY are road construction workers so special, and bikers are open season with no limit? I don't wish any road workers harm, but they are COMPENSATED to be there and for putting themselves in a dangerous situation. They are also some what protected with flashing lights, reduced speed zones, and safety apparel. If we try to put flashing lights on our bikes to be noticed, we get citations.
It is only right that cage drivers should be held accountable for their lack of awareness when they encroach upon the right of way of a biker and cause injury or death. It is High time we demanded the same protection as the highway workers.
WHOSE WITH ME?

Notice they waited a very long time between the homicide and the deal/sentence.
This is where friends, family and motorcyclists come together and swamp the DA and Judge with demands for justice, local OpEds in the papers, and show up to court.
For a 60-day sentence, both judge and prosecutor should be targeted.

Did anyone notice that she was spared a harsher sentence because she "had at least momentarily stopped" before running?
The judge and prosecutor should be jailed for dereliction!

Why do I feel that if it had been a biker at fault. A biker who somehow caused the cage drivers death, who had no license, who didn't try to help the injured driver and who then fled the scene, the outcome would have been a far harsher sentence?

well don't you know, all bikers have tattoos all over, ride drunk all the time, sell drugs. and flaunt the law with their loud pipes and leather clothes, always carry guns and terrorize the general populace??
world is a better place with one less. <sarcasm font needed> for those who don't understand.
