Ok, it's 52 degrees outside.  The sun is shining.  What a great day to be ridin!    Smiley  Well I am not feelin the fun!   tickedoff  What started to be tire replacement and the highly suggested PM at tire replacement has turned into  a lot of orderin parts and waitin and diggin deeper just to be sure.  More parts and more waitin.

Oh yes!  The U joint malfunction.  After findin the drive shaft and pinion cup destroyed, I decided to pull the U joint and check it too.  Glad I did!  Now the interesting part is, the joint feels smooth and tight.  However, as I was rolling it around in my hands and checking it for smooth operation and tightness, I just happened to notice one of the bearing cups moving.  It turns out that both bearing cups in the front yolk of the U joint are spining in the yolk rather than spining on the shaft end of the X member of the joint.  This is not a good thing!  It appears that these cups can also turn on the X member but find it easier to turn in the yolk.

I do not know if anyone else has run into this problem, but it seems to me that it could easily be overlooked if you were not paying real close attention.  And I doubt that it will last long in that condition.  I am going to replace it.

Well at least when I do eventually get my fat girl back together she should be in good shape.  And this time I will know because I am the guy that is doin the work.  I am lookin forward to puttin some miles on her this year.   Smiley
