Surveyed it after only 110K miles? We keep our light fleet well past 300K, unless it is a lemon with a long rap sheet repair history. Those go at about 250K. Did your purchasing department line out certain specifications and go the low bid route, or did they specifically go to Ford. Curious.
The Chevy still runs pretty good, but the inside door handles have been replaced a lot due to 11 yrs of heavy use....we have two State Inmates on our crew most of the time.....the bed of the truck is pretty beat up if you were to see a better pic.....each vehicle is on a depreciated vehicle replacement program and after 10 years and 100,000 miles they are usually replaced and this truck will be auctioned off with other old equipment sometime in October.....
We can ask for certain things on the new truck.....I wanted strobe lights front and rear since I work in the downtown area....lots of traffic issues......and I only wanted one tool box this go round......it has a pintle(military) hitch on the back for pulling our tandem trailer......I think the main difference in the new truck is that it is a 3/4 ton where as the Chevy is a 1 ton truck....
Personally, I wouldn't want to have to spend the $$ for gas that these trucks use...both will get around 10-12mpg if you're lucky.....and towing heavy stuff probably decreases that even more.....

.....
I'm not sure how they bid out for new trucks.....or if they have to take the low bid, but I'm pretty sure that since we are a local Govt., we probably get a break on the normal price.....I really wanted a Chevy 2500 or whatever the equivalent is, but it seems that Ford has been the truck of choice at our Fleet Mngt. as of late.....I like the looks of the Chevy's better and the old one has been good mechanically, I guess we'll see how the Ford stacks up.....
