The capacitor on the Interstate alternator... Is this part necessary for the alternator to function? The new one did not come with one. I can reuse mine, sure, but if it's the part that failed, or if it crapped out with the alternator I'm boned. I notice the standard/tour models don't use them...

Its a filter to keep alternator noise out of the radio.
