Thanks for the ride report Tundra.  Looked like a very nice day for a ride.  Love the seat/backrest/tank bib on that one Valk.  I think it is John S.'s bike, but not sure.  Hand tooled leather.  Man...

Glad y'all got out for a ride.

I'd be willing to bet Carman Allen down in Texas did that seat. He does amazing work with leather and also owns a couple beautiful Valks. He makes custom made boots for rich folk as well  Smiley

Joe, right on target. Carman is an accomplished leather tooling artist(doing it for 40+yrs.) and a good personal friend going back a few years. I can't sign my name three times and have them all look the same, that's the limit of my artistic ability.

If you recall, his is the copper/black winning bike from InZane in Michigan(first one) and the December, 2011 calendar pic. He paid someone locally to convert to HD controls, and switch the tach & speedo to a set off a VTX1800C. In short, the local guy screwed it up big time. The speedo would register 200mph while cruising at 55, the tach never got below 8k rpm at idle, and he was always smelling burnt wires. He asked if I'd take a look at it...sure, be happy to. He trailered it from Ft. Worth to Florida, left it with me and went to pick up another bike he had bought elsewhere in Florida. When I took it apart, the wiring was a disaster. Upon removing the headlight a mass of wires fell out. The same for under the seat, when I released the seat it popped up a good 3" which told me there was a lot of pressure from underneath. The details would take up a huge amount of space on this forum, suffice it to say.....I cut it all out with some side cutters and put everything back to OEM and started over. The bike was in my shop for over three months, and took a large part of that time to correct the local guy's mess and do the conversion. After looking at it the first time, I'm surprised it didn't burn to the ground. Carman was standing next to me when I took my first look, and when he asked what my first move was going to be I asked him to hand me the wire cutters. The look on his face was classic.  Grin  Later, when I handed him a pile of wires and relays that would fill a medium box from the Post Office, he then understood.

Note to Alph....it's not a SuperValk. It started life as a Tourer, I added the Accel plug wires, I/S radiator pods, tank, and the HD fairing. I've had the bike 9 yrs. and I'm done messing with changes, more than a few aren't noticeable. At least until something new comes up.  cooldude

Great choice for a Q ride Doug!  cooldude
Thanks for setting it up, we will definitely have to hit that joint again. You know there was no way I was going to miss that ride with Stuffy needling me about the cold weather.  Grin
Anyways, I rode the great running, awful sounding black 'n silver back up Bellamy Bros Highway & through good ol' Brooksville feeling full! It was right at 72 miles from home to the Q joint. Had to put on the jacket for the last 60 miles or so on the trip back.
Let's do it again soon!

You put your jacket on?  Geez Eddie, that's because you forgot your Mukluks. If your feet are cold, the whole body feels cold.  Here kitty, kitty!!!  2funny  Good to see you again, meant to ask....how's your mom doing now that a few months have passed?

She's doing pretty good considering all she's had to deal with John. What's bugging her the most now is my sister going thru a divorce, lotta bad stuff there.  tickedoff

Anyways.... I had on 2 pairs of socks, long underwear, 2 shirts & I was still cold. The silver & black doesn't have the Baker Air Wings on it, the '97 does so I had to be sure to dress warmer!  Embarrassed
It's cold up here in the frozen tundra of Marion county you know!!! Shocked
