Had a great day, 429 miles round trip as I went to Clarksville via Leonard and Paris. Kind of a cold day but no sun in my eyes and I put on enough gear to not be uncomfortable. Got to Paris at 10:30 and waited just in case John from Tyler showed up, but at 11:15, decided that he wasn't and took off to see the tower. Then rode the backroads up through Pin Hook before coming back down to Clarksville. Went to the town square first, then to Daniel and Carrie's house. They have done a lot since I was there last. The most amazing thing was the water "circuit board" where all the water went to the various spots in the house. This was pretty neat.
Then we went back downtown and I visited the "Cupola" store. The carvings were amazing and they really have the store full of neat old stuff. We then went over to the Italian Bistro and had - fried catfish. And it was good and all you can eat. They served so much in the first serving, it was all I could eat. In fact, none reordered and Carrie took catfish back home (bet the cats were nice to her when she got there).
We then went back to the Cupola and I got the "private" tour of the upstairs areas, including the party room, old doctor's offices and reception area. Plus the shooter's porch over the stairs. This is where an armed guard would check you out before going to the doctor's office. This is a civil war era building, after all.
Then they took me to the mezzanine area, a mid-story area where the "throne" is.
This is an incredible building with a lot of history. I know that they will get this thing back in perfect shape before long and it will be the showplace of Clarksville.
After that, said my goodbyes and headed back to the metromess, detouring around a bit just to see the whole area.
Here's the pictures:

While riding around, found this place on 271 - must be Valkyrie people!

Stopped back in Paris for the Tower shot:

And, here's my new license plate chrome:

Hope to organize a big ride to Clarksville for the stew contest later in the year. Wanted to go the last 2 years but could not get there - let's do better this year!
