Not like I can say much...

Lost the front-end last week in a right-hander and slid right across the oncoming lane of traffic and down the bank.

If anything had been coming I would have taken them out or been run over, so I deserve NO sympathy...give me hell just like anyone else.  The reason for posting stuff like this and the lane crossing is to try and educate ourselves and others to minimize collisions.

I learned that a somewhat worn front tire combined with a good rear tire, combined with probable low inflation pressures can lead to a catastrophic front slide at lean when on the throttle...essentially what amounts to a tiny wheelie while leaned over.  My first sign of trouble was a sudden increase of drag on my knee...as if I had gone from plastic pucks (which I was wearing) to leather pucks.  Then the bike separated from my body and I was sliding down the road.  I guess it's somewhat fortunate that I was near the exit of the turn, so I slid more down the road than shooting straight off the side.  I left the road without slowing down much, and flew through the air for a moment before landing on the downslope of the bank ass-first, and tumbling to a stop about 30-40 feet down.  The bike tumbled on a different trajectory, with more trees, and ended up about 50 feet down, frame broken in 2.

I'm doing fine though, still a little bruised and sore on the back of my right hip, but leathers and back protector did the trick...this time.  Let's all be as careful as we can out there and still have fun.

A little confusing.
This was NOT you that went down?  Kind of sounds like it.  But, I do not think so.
