2000 Interstate, 108,000 miles.
Gears starting to grind between shifts, no clutch slippage. My next move will be to check master & slave to see if OK. Anyone else had this problem?

Never had to work on mine, but from what I've read on here it could be a couple of things. How old is the fluid? When you check the master look at the pivot point bushing in the lever and see if it is worn oblong. Might not be engaging the master far enough. The last thing it might be is the rivets in the cluck pack shearing off.

The fluid is old. I thought the best bet would be the slave cylinder. I thought if there was too much wear on the clutch pack I would be getting some slippage.

Change the fluid first. It is the easiest thing to do and might solve your problem. Moisture in the fluid will compress and you will not get enough travel at the slave.
The rivets would not cause it to slip but would bind and not allow the clutch to fully disengage like you are experiencing.
Do a search for clutch and you will find many threads to look at.

+1 on changing the fluid, it has work for others.
As for the rivets, again, from reading, you may not show any problems until the rivets start coming off, and you have no more clutch. But fluide is easiest and needs to be done anyways.
But check over the lever pivot point, looking for a good circular hole.

How does the clutch act upon take-off ?? Does it engage in the same place ?? Is it still nice and smooth or has it become a bit ' jerky' ??
