I have been a VRCC member in Southern California for several years. I own two Valkyries, a 2001 I/S and a 1999 I/S. I bought the 01 in 2004 and the other I got wrecked (mild) in 07. I ended up buying a sidecar for it from Solo1 in 09. In 06 I shipped the 2001 to Brasil and rode with a Brasilian friend of mine through Brasil then to Ushuaia, Argentina then back to California, 5 months and about 22,000 miles, 20ish countries, (including Columbia) great trip with a great friend. I have been to Prudhoe Bay on the bike twice and I am now planning to ride the hack to Prudhoe Bay and Inuvik in January of 2013. I'm still working on getting the bike ready for the extreme cold but, soon I will be ready to go. I will get a webpage running and post later on with the address so if you want to see you can. I want to thank Wayne for his great friendship and to his two sons too. The dragon that is his trademark is still on the side of the hack. I won't remove it. BTW, this is my first post on the general board.

Mike......I would be tempted to try that with you but a winter trip would just freeze my ass Grin Grin Grin  When you get to the Dalton Highway sign, check to see if my black X (made of duct tape) is still on the bottom left middle of the sign..........My friend John who you m,et at the sign last year, and I are contemplating another  trip and want to go on to Prudhoe this time instead of stopping at the arctic circle sign.

Plan well, take chains and enjoy!!!!!!!!

Man, so good to hear from you. I remember you both and it is too bad you did not go all the way to Prudhoe Bay, it was awesome. I have some fantastic pictures of the sun trying to set @ 3:30 A.M. The hack has a car tire on it and I will stud the tires when it comes time. Thanks for the reply. Still have my e-mail address?

That will be a hell of a trip. Be safe. Everything, and I mean everything, in that environment will be trying to kill you.

If you don't have experience in that kind of cold, you need to get some training.

Good luck!

I do have experience at that cold. Done the Dalton twice and like I said most of South America. A few dozen rides over 16,000 feet through The Andes. The Dalton is much easier than alot of places in S.A.. Thanks for the advice. I will keep you all posted. I'm really looking forward to it!

WOW...just wow. I thought I put some miles in. Your trips would certainly cut the men from the boys. (I'd fall into the boy class)
I'd love to hear stories from some of these rides. Wow cooldude
