i just moved back to florida from colorado 2 weeks ago and when i start my bike up im getting white smoke coming from my right pipes...is it the altitude change?  i adjusted my idle to 800 rpms from 1000.. but the gas i was using was 85 octane in colorado and here they have 87 octane... any suggestions on this...maybe new plugs.. or put some seafoam in the tank .. thanks.... emrik

Florida is a lot more humid than Colorado. I'd guess you're steaming moisture out of the exhaust. It should go away as it warms up.

Most all valks will puff a little white vapor on startup, esp on choke.

Now with choke off and warmed up, if you are still puffing vapor/smoke, you may want to look at things.

My brand new '03 smoked at start-up from the day I first started her with
0.4 miles until the day she went to Heaven and a little over 38,000. My
'98 has 61,000 and smokes a little bit at start-up.

White smoke = water vapour
Blue smoke = oil burning
Black smoke = unburnt fuel

Welcome back to the sunshine state.  Mine does that.....just like you discribed....especially when the dew point is high (the RH and temp being closer together).

Shouldn't be a problem. Mine does that when the humidity is up or the temp is down. So did my GL1100.
