I've been contacted by a reporter doing a story on the seriousness of deer/vehicle encounters and he is looking for pictures he can use in his story.

They must be pictures you own the rights to and can sign a release for him to use.

These photos are important to the story because they illustrate the seriousness of a driver/deer collision and the damage deer can cause to vehicles.  The photos will be used to make that point, and will also be used under the voice over regarding startling facts [like there are over 50,000 vehicle/deer collisions in Michigan alone

I've come close on both bike and in cage, but never actually made contact. The worst was almost 30 years ago. I was west bound crossing the White River bridge on Hwy 1, just east of St. Charles, Ar. It was about 2:00 am. There was a deer in the middle of the bridge. I was already on the bridge when I saw him. I brought the little Nissan Sentra to a complete stop while the deer ran back and forth, from side to side of the bridge. It looked over the edge and started to jump several times, but seemed to realize that it was too far to the water.
We were just below the crest of the bridge and couldn't see the other side. I suppose that is why the deer wouldn't just run on across to the western bank. It would start to try and come past me, then seem to panic and start running around wildly. The darn thing almost ran into my motionless vehicle several times. At one point it look as though it might try to jump over me. It's hooves were sliding on the pavement.
It eventually came on past me, then turned into a blur heading for the woods on the east bank.

Deer scare me, MOOSE scare the CRAP out of me.  Saw one up in northern Vermont running across the interstate just ahead of me, down a huge cliff filled with trees and brush in the median and crossed the other lanes in about three steps.  Cars screaching off the road.

Was up running the Kancamagus Highway up in NH one summer and the road was closed down cause a biker and moose met up, neither made it.

Only close deer sighting on the bike was getting off the highwy one night.   On the exit ramp turning right, as I looked back after looking to my left to merge, right in the middle of the road was a doe, just standing there.  I think I scared her as much as she scared me.  I didn't change my course, just went as pointed, she jumped to my right and after I passed, she jumped right behind me and took off to my left.  That quick.

I doubt it, and in rut they are simply loco and lose what little minds they have.

I have seen and avoided many, a few close enough to pucker, but have been told more than once by guys riding behind me I rode right by one I never saw.

Kill'em all I say (with guns not vehicles) and the world will be a much better place.

Hit one in a police car once, split it in half pretty much. An oncoming car hit part of the carcass and had a few thousand in damages as well.

Seen plenty of deer while riding the motorcycle, never close enough to really do more than raise my radar up to somewhat intense.

Had a moose encounter in Wyoming on the motorcycle. Luckily the HUGE girl was already standing in the middle of the road (daylight) and it was easy to stop 50 yards away and see what developed. She ran around corner away from us, but then suddenly came back around towards us as motorcycles coming the other way spooked her. She ran up an embankment and then left the area.

By far the biggest pucker was from a black bear in northern Vermont. That 250 pound bear that decided to run across I-91. Watched him run down an embankment and I was calculating the angle and closing speed of this animal, never did trigonometry so fast in my life. Slowed down enough to watch him get about 6 feet from me and then he runs behind the trailer.
