Dublin Dr.Pepper was sued by the Dr.Pepper company and lost.  They will stop producing the cane sugar formula of Dr. Pepper for which they're famous.  Life sucks

So terribly disappointed in this turn of events.
I love my DUBLIN DP..  Corporate really screwed up imo.  I know there were things Dublin DP should have probably done differently.. but this was a true Texas original.
Sent an email to corporate to show them my dismay and got their form letter response..   I'm done with Dr. Pepper/schwepps/cadbury.   I really think they handled this the wrong way.
Very sad for the people of Dublin.

I drink the sugar based DP every day .... even most of the "Dublin" DP was made in Plano.  One local grocery store stocks the "Heritage" Dr Pepper and I do enjoy it.  And I deliver several 12 packs to a friend about once a month.   She is so appreciative, as she never really got used to the "new" stuff.

i didn't know they had to stop making it, just selling it outside their area. They had some in Hico, at the "Jesse james museum" and at Babe's chicken (across the street) i don't remember which one we went to .

The Dublin Dr Pepper bottlling company does no longer exist after 120 years. The Dublin bottling plant refused to switch to the less expensive formula and that's how Dublin Dr Pepper got it's start. Along the way other bottlers started using the same original formula also. Like the one in Waco.

It lost it's right to sell the pure cane sugar version of Dr Pepper under the name Dublin Dr Pepper in the law suite over Dr Pepper trademarks. That is really sad for Dublin, TX.

The Snapple Pepper Group Inc now owns all the rights and will continue to sell the Dr Pepper sweetened with cane sugar throughout Dublin's former territory as well as other area's of Texas.

The plant and museum and Old Doc's Soda shop will still be open for tours. They still sell the good Dr Pepper in Dublin. It just won't say Dublin on the label anymore.

I still don't understand what the whole purpose off this exercise was! ???

I'll tell you what it was.  It was a Corp giant that couldn't stand the success of a small independent listening to their customers.  They (Dublin DP) were just producing what the public asked for.
It took a while to catch on, but now there are "pure cane sugar" versions of most other soft drinks. And Dublin started it all.

Are all of the pure cane sugar dr peppers made in Dublin, or are some made by DP Corp?

Hay Jimmy,
Not 100% sure (99.875% sure) crazy2. The Dublin plant used to refill the old bottles that aren't made anymore, every Wednesday morning. Those cute 12oz bottles that I used to buy/bring where all bottled in a facility somewhere else. I believe around the Waco, Killeen area for the Dublin area. Surely that information is printed on the bottles and cans. The refillable bottles they filled on Wednesday came from people all around. You could only get refills if you owned those bottles and send to the plant in Dublin.

The original owners of the Dublin plant REFUSED to make and sell the CHEAP/ crappy Dr Pepper. That's what started Dublin Dr Pepper and made Dublin a special place for fans.

If you look at the photo, the bottle necks have 2 decals. Only one decal has Dublin printed on it and the other is on the opposite side ( just like the Valkyrie boxer motor). This makes it officially VALKYRIE related Daniel!  2funny

You can still get that bottle without Dublin printed on it. Same ingredients. They showed back up in the local stores. Reliable sources tell me they are not moving. People are p******d-off .

Again I still don't know what it accomplished! There has to be more to the story! I suggest let's follow the money trail!

When I took the tour at Dublin Dr Pepper, they told us that most of the sugar product was made in the Plano plant.  Since the stuff I buy at Kroger is from the Dublin plant, I'm getting the same stuff without the long drive.

Funny thing is I don't mind the Sugar drinks in cans but can't abide the HFC in cans.

I can only get the Heritage DP in cans, so it works for me!!  They do still have the small bottles, but they're MUCH more expensive.

I'm personally boycotting all DP/Snapple/Cadbury products over this (Other than original real Dublin branded Dr. Pepper if I can get my hands on it) but.....

The reason Dr Pepper corporate had to come down on Dublin is that Dublin was diluting the brand by splitting Dr Pepper into two brands, Dr Pepper and Dublin Dr Pepper.

If Dr Pepper corporate had allowed that to continue, from my feeble legal understanding, they could have compromised the entire brand.

Also, Dublin Dr Pepper only had a distribution area of 44 miles from Dublin (I think that was it, not 100% on the number of miles) and Dublin was breaking that agreement by selling their product via mail order and allowing it to be sold outside of their distribution area.

NOT defending their actions by a LONG shot, there had to have been a better way to handle it then the heavy handed tactics they used. Very sad to see the death of a Texas legend with the passing of the oldest in operation Dr Pepper bottling plant.  tickedoff
