I laugh at funny jokes. This was not a funny joke. Therefore, I did not laugh. Ignorance is only funny when irony is in the mix.

Usually the ones that bitch are the city folks that moved out into the country.  I HATE city folks that move to the country. Not the ones that start up a farm but the ones that move there and bitch about everyone elses farm. More and more farmland is being bought up and housing additions are added. Its sad. Dad/uncle just spent twice the land price and bought 20 ac so no city folk would buy it and build a house. Land butted up to our land.
Granted farming aint what it was when dad was a kid. Dad would spend summers baling thousands and thousands bales of straw. I hate doing 500 a summer! 

As far as meth, cant recall any farm kids making the labs.

Don't forget to blame the farmers for chopping it up and selling it in the first place.

Usually its their kids. The farmers die off and kids want the $$. When it does go for sale the auctioneers busts it up into tracks to build on.

In lots of places, farms have been annexed into cities, and counties in what have become suburban areas have raise the taxes so much it forces the sell of properties.  Ya just can't afford to keep it.  The land becomes more valuable than the farm.....Where I live, raw land is going between 60 and 100 thousand / acre.....We keep looking at properties where I can buy 40 or 50 acres for what 1 acre goes for here.... in what used to be country.

Geeeez, this still going ?  My citified buddy that moved down here from up yonder somewhere is doing quite well at making wine and stuff now. He even found out where meat comes from and how vegetables really don't have feelings or even care if you eat their friends. He said he misses some things about the big city, but we can't get him to leave here. So, I don't know, we all gotta live somewhere, I just know the city ain't for me. I had the chances of a lifetime while there, just chose not to take them.  The only thing I know for sure, and I learned this in Nam, is that when the s#!t hits an American, it don't matter where your from, your all brothers......And that's all I got to say bout that.....
