Just rode around the country block which is about 15 miles. Also stopped and picked up some Lottery tickets which added another half mile or so. This is about as short a ride as I'm ever gonna take.

To work, 2KM. To the store, 1KM away in the cage seems to run 50-70 miles on the bike.

To me, anything less than from topped-off to reserve and fill-up, or about 150 miles, is a short ride.  150 to 500 miles with no overnight = ride.  Greater than 500 miles with no overnight = long ride.

Short ride for me is to Mt. Shasta or over the Siskiyou Pass to Ashland for a cup of coffee and back which is about 60 miles round trip.  No good coffee shops in this town.

6 mile round trip into town is a short ride. 35 mile round trip to work and back is my most frequent ride. On the weekend, one tank of gas is a short ride. On vacation, less than 9 hours is a short ride.

i'll keep that in mind Joe.  For everyone else that picture was taken at the Hell's Canyon overlook in Oregon.  If you noticed the wing was a bit dirt.  That was 3 1/2 hours in the Hell's Wilderness where I got lost by making a wrong turn on a short ride (dirt and gravel).

Ain't it greatwhere we sometimes find ourselves.

150-200 miles(round trip)for a chili dog or chili burger is a short ride......even if it's 33 degrees with sleet bouncing off the face shield(pre-Gerbings)...... cooldude

I very rarely take it the 6 miles to work because for some reason, the return home can be 50+ miles after breaking down in the parking lot of a DQ somewhere!!....... Shocked

Locally - if it doesn't require a gas stop to get home, its a short trip.  On vacation, anything under 350 miles a day is a leisurely stroll, over 500 miles starts to become work.

Charlie, ya never get lost, ya is just a seein different country.

Thats how my youngest daughter said it after she cooled off when we got l**t in Detroit.      Lost is not in her vocabulary any more.    She was around 8 to 10 somewhere and cried her eyes out till I could get hold of her mom on the phone,      I even had a lady cop trying to comfort her, no way Jose.    As soon as mom convinced her we'd make it back home, everything is cool.

To this day, she still will not say lost, just seein different country or landscape.   She be in her 40's.

It would be hard for me to quit riding long enough to go to work if I lived down there in your home area Al. I've seen a little of the US and some pretty places. And there are some gorgeous places here in Indiana. But the mountain roads there in your end of the country seem to have been grown from the earth with motorcycles in mind.  Smiley

Wife and I rode from our house in Yorkville, IL(50 miles west of Chicago) to Schwartz's Supper Club in Fond Du Lac, Wisc. 400 miles round trip, just so I could try their rib-eye.

Many trips to the grocery store, which is 2 miles away,  end up encompassing about 20 miles.

On the dragon, it's easy to make a short trip slightly longer.  Roll Eyes

This time of year, any ride less than 100 miles (or under two hours).  During the warmer part of the year, any ride that is under 200 miles.

WOW!!!  we just had our first snow of the year, with more promised by mid week.   NEED moisture.
