NOT MY WORDS This is the Lockheed C-130J Hercules with Dowty props & Allison (now RR) 2100 D3 engine (4150 shp or 2.3 shp per lb). Flown on the ragged edge of the envelope, but like Bob Hoover's demonstrations, the pilot is very smooth and has extraordinary feeling for the aircraft & energy. You can hear the female voice warnings throughout and the Co-Pilot silencing them as they never need to be disconnected. Pilot continues to talk with the Co-Pilot verifying his statements & readings. Great cockpit team. Right on the stall on landing & minimum run with maximum reverse. It was a hell of a show. Watch in full screen http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/cpasley/5495

I was a jet mech in the late 60s. One of the best aircraft I ever had the pleasure of working on was the C130. Logged a lot of time flying between the U.S. and Europe on them. Other planes I worked on were the F105, F5, T38, T37, T33, and the EB66. Thanks for the memories, Britman! Dubs

Kinda reminds me of some of those combat landings I went through as a passenger in those wonderful webbed seats in Nam. The 130 was a dream compared to that NOISY 123.

Only flew in a C-130 twice from Balgram Afghanistan to Jalalabad, and from Jalalabad to Khandahar Afghanistan. Great aircraft to survive the time. I enjoyed the ride better than a C-17. Still love the look of the steriod version (AC-130)

Have the Youngstown Air Base about 5 miles from home and work. They base 12 C130's there. Needless to say, they are in the air training pretty much everyday during daylight. Have seen them overheard thousands of times not doing those type maneuvers, but they do fly low and fast a lot. I have also watched them make high-speed steep landings.
All in all very impressive, even during normal flight activities.

I flew the A model (three bladed prop) in Vietnam for two years in and out of small fields and I can tell you there were many times when I was thankful for all that power and maneuverability. Its a great airplane and fun to fly.

Looks like a heads-up display system. It displays airspeed, altitude, heading, etc, so you don't have to take your eyes off the outside environment. I think most modern aircraft, and even some cars, have them.
