As long as you are replacing, don't rule out the Yuasa YTX14H-BS model with increased cranking power. This will fit and sell for about the same price.

Thanks for posting, I just ordered. I had a weak battery the last ride and had to jump it off my truck. It charged and was fine all day, however it's dead again. The price I got was $66.99 plus tax. Still $10.00 less than HDL (even though it ships from HDL)

I had read that a larger alternator could/would damage the stock OEM spec batteries.
I am upgrading to a larger (85amp) alternator.
Any opinions as to the battery I need?
Best regards,
Glenn ???

Glenn, I'm upgrading to the same 85 amp.alternator .Several on here have said they did the same thing and are using the stock battery and its doing just fine. That's the way I plan on doing it.I'll watch my battery very close and will replace it with a Gold wing battery if my stock battery goes bad but for now I'm going to run the Valkyrie battery.. I think that was mostly meant for the Compufire Battery which puts out 1300+ watts

Typical of Amazon - As soon as they get some purchases, the price ticks upwards (supply-demand algorithm I guess). I had read that a larger alternator could/would damage the stock OEM spec batteries.
IMHO, Larger alternator capacity shouldn't damage the battery. If the regulator's defective or the battery's flakey to begin with, I could see a problem.

$59.95 and free shipping at: http://www.tristatebattery.com/product_info.php?products_id=732It's one you have to fill and charge but I prefer that method so its guaranteed fresh. Service was very good. Motocross brand by Yuasa. Not affiliated.

I ordered Monday night and it was on my doorstep tonight...(Wednesday) That's fast, especially for free shipping. Much faster than anything I've ordered from HDL.

I don't think this vendor is HDL even though their name is 'Direct Line'. Look at their 'storefront' on Amazon. They sell mostly non-motorsport items and they're based in Florida (Probably why you got yours so fast).

Check out East Penn Manufacturing, they sell Deka batteries (and other makes). There is only about three main battery manufact. in the USA. I went direct to a local Deka Distributor in my area, got a brief tour and education. The manager had a special hand held digital tester/tool that reads Cranking Amps and it was way "higher" than even the advertised spec. I'm impressed with Deka and buy them for my MC and Autos.

I don't believe there is any kind of electrical instrument simply attaching to a battery that is able to give a readout of CCA (cold cranking amps).
These professed and glorified instruments, supposed prognosticators of information, heretofore use formula and mathematics to achieve a forecast of stored ability without actually testing the ability.
A true stress test is the only way to test the ability of a battery's CCA.
Put a stress instrument on a small motorcycle battery and it will cause harm to the battery.
You can believe all the hype and hope it is true but it is not based in reality.
If you want an idea of a batteries ability to work (CCA), count the number of plates in the battery and compare that figure to the number of plates in a different battery. The more plates, the higher CCA figure. The more plates equal higher potential for work. Thinner plates equal less potential lifetime.
In the same size battery case, more plates will offer higher potential work (CCA) but the tradeoff will be less potential lifetime.

My last battery came from Interstate Battery.
Don't remember the price now, but it had free shipping and installation.
Oh yeah, I should also say it had a higher cranking power than the stock one.
Been in there 3 years a week from today and no problems, always fires MGM on about the 3 or 4th rev. Even after it has set all winter.
As long as I leave me firkin hand off the throttle it will set there and run till it is partially warmed up, and I back the choke off easily.
