Does anyone here run a corbin seat on the interstate?
I just got a Mustang seat for mine, and while it is wonderful compared to stock, I still remember the corbin on my last bike, and it does not feel the same.

What do you corbin riders think of your seats?

I bought a used Corbin seat for my IS. I have and love the Corbin seat for my ACE Tourer, so when a used one came available, I bought it. Drove to the mailhouse, installed it on my IS, and proceed to cross the border and head home, 1/2 hr drive.

By the time I got home, I took the seat off and tried to sell it. It was CRAP! I don't know how old it was, since it was used, it might have been a first model, and the newer ones are better, but I would NEVER again get a Corbin for a Valkyrie.

I'll ask the purchaser when I next see him. See how he likes it, but to the best of my knowledge, he rides in the city only.

I want a good seat for long distance riding.

I've had the Corbins.  Sold them and got the Ultimates and am much happier.

Yes, I have a 99 IS with the full touring Corbin set.
I bought my Corbin 5 years ago and am generally happy with it. It looks way better than the stock seat.
I do get 'Monkey Butt' after about 6-8 hours. In all honesty, I don't think it is more comfortable than the stock seat for me. I was fine with the stock seat comfort, I wanted to be an inch lower and the Corbin does that and I feel it looks better than the Low Rider (Ultimate).

I think seat comfort is hard to get right. If you are thin and boney you will need something different than a 400lb fat person. I'm 5'10" @ 220lbs and my wife is 5'3" @ 130. Both her and sat in that seat for thousands of miles.

The seat still looks great after 40k. I use leather conditioner and saddle soap.

Good luck.

Cheers,

Glenn

I have a Corbin on my GW Trike, so far it has been comfortable. I have a Ultimate King Big Boy and a Diamond Seat off my Interstates that are for sale, if you are interested. The Diamond is the most comfortable in my opinion.

Pardon if I get a little off track but I boughrt a great Valk Standard last Spring with a Corbin Stinger already on it. i love the look and my last bike was a Yamaha Road Star. I had both a Mustang set up and a Corbin Stinger for the Star. I loved both seats but, the Stinger on the Valk causes me to slide a little forward. I guess it is a little "downhill"
Just wondering if anyone else experiences this problem.

PS  I would not recommend the Stinger for long distances even if it did not slant forward.

Buying a used Corbin, I didn't have many choices, so I bought th eone for sale. I have no idea how many models there might have been, but the bike was an IS, and the seat was sold as for an IS.

The slidding you mentioned was one of the biggest problems I had with the Corbin and the IS, everytime I stopped, I slid forward.

Maybe there are more than one model out there, or like I said, maybe it was a 1st gen design?

My ACE Tourer Corbin seat held my butt like it was in a pail. Solo riding, I just love it, 6 hrs with one gas stop, no problems.

I have a corbin on my standard. It looks sweet but comfort wise it falls somewhere between the stock seat and a rock. I've been looking into getting a 2000 seat or ultimate

I have friends that have corbins that they love. They did tell me if it works for you, you'll swear by them. If it doesn't work for you you'll swear at them.
I run a bigboy ultimate with backrest on my interstate  and can ride all day on it.

I have a Corbin on my IS complete with back rests and love it.  I added an Alaska Fur pad to it and can spend 12 hrs in the saddle without a problem.  My neck and shoulders get sore, but not the butt.  I have not had the chance to try an Ultimate so I have no real comparison.  Butt, I can tell you that I'm in no hurry to switch it out.  I guess I'm just one tough a$$  coolsmiley

valk/gixxer I went with the 2000 seat for my 98 Tourer. Haven't been on a trip with it yet. Have done 500 mile days on the stock and getting off the bike felt good.

My IS came with a brand new Corbin dual tour, tricked out with fancy stitching (and the bill of sale for around $1100)

It LOOKED beautiful, but it was hard as stone, and I slid all over it cranking and banking. There was no sweet spot, and you could not stay back against the rear step-up to the rear seat.   Best I could get for it was $400.

If you want a Corbin but want to save some money, just buy a 4" solid concrete block, and stretch some leather over it.  I'm an older white guy with a bit of a paunch, but no extra padding in the rear.

I,m 6'2", 245 lbs & bought a corbin for my 2000 I/S about 5 years ago.  More for the looks than the comfort (same model as Jess from VA).  I was very sceptical at first because, as everyone knows, Corbin's are hard seats, but it didn't take long to love this seat.   I have ridden many 10-13 hrs days and seldom thought about discomfort.   Sure, once in a while I need to change peg positions , but have always been comfortable.    Also....I got mine in leather.   Thought leather might be a problem in the rain.   Leaving it out overnight in the rain you would think it was vsoaked, but that's  not true.  My seat never gets soaked through...ever.  I wipe the seat off and it's a little damp, but doesn't really make your butt wet and dries out quickly under you.    Get a leather seat and kiss monkey butt goodbye.   On those hot days, long ride, my buddies get off their bikes and their soaked....i'm dry & comfortable.  I treat it with "Doc Martins" conditioner once or twice a year and that keeps it waterproofed.    I never worry about leaving it out in the rain or morning dew.   I see that some have had problems sliding on their seats... I have never experienced that.    One problem....I have about 60K miles on this seat and the welt on the right side where you pull your leg over the seat is starting to wear out and it's probably no different with any seat with a welt, but next year I'll send it back to corbin in the winter to get the welt replaced.   The welt is that round, rolled leather piece in the seam that gives it a nice look.
To each his own, but I highly recommend this seat and.....don't be afraid of leather!

Correction on my last msg....I treat my leather seat with "Doc Bailey's" not Doc Martins.  You can pick this up on line or at any Motorcycle show.   Works for me.

I like the look of my Corbin, The comfort level is acceptable. I am not a huge fan of all the studs that are on it but whatever, mine came on the bike when I got it back in 2005 and the bike only had 232 total miles on her so the seat might have had less and it was stored inside it's entire life. Mine also came with all the fancy Valkyrie specific stitching and a removable back rest and the passenger backrest also stitched and studded.

I am about 6'1" and a bit over 260lbs fully geared up and the Corbin sits me a little bit lower than I really like makes my knees bend a bit when my feet are on my regular foot pegs.
So if anyone wants to consider a trade(+cash) for a Ultimate Big Boy or Ultimate King BigBoy seat with driver and passenger back rests with the pouch on drivers back rest (NO STUDS) I would be willing to work something out... I have done a couple 500 mile days and that was about all I could take but then again I have very little long run rides under my belt on any bike.
