I understand the creep factor, but if a woman I'd been with for 10 years and was deeply in love with died, I can see going through the ceremony as she was laid to rest.
Of course, I'd have had a ring on her finger about 9 years earlier.

I am no expert on this (I cannot remember it coming up before), but believe Judeo-Christian clerics, judges, JP's and ship captains are reluctant to perform weddings involving dead people. 

I could be wrong....... and Vegas and CA probably have exceptions.
