The Great Republic of Texas - Dallas

« on: August 03, 2008, 08:14:18 PM »

If you click on the "Store", go to Monday, July 28th and click on cruisers/full dressers and go to page 54 you will see David (riding with no hands?) and LaserPat w/Deb riding pillion at Deal's Gap. Several shots. Just like being there yourself only your gas card doesn't take the big hit and your butt doesn't hurt if you have a comfortable couch. ~Jeff

Oh, how I would love to perpetuate the myth, but I was stuck behind a bleeping mini-van and taking a moment on a relatively flat spot.  Being our first time on the Dragon, we didn't know where Killboy would be, and as soon as I saw him and realized I was one-handed, I envisioned the dogpile that was sure to come.  Boy did that mini-van melt the brakes on the way down.  I could sue for asbestosis.

BTW, I saved the no-hands for the downhill side of 441 from Gatlinburg to Cherokee through the Cherokee National Forest.  Incredible.  I was giggling out loud.

I'm Dave in Frisco (TX), live, or mostly alive, reporting from Little Rock after an 11 hour, 500 mile day that started in Cleveland.  (Tennessee)

Back tomorrow.

It's okay, Dave.  It's hard to be prepared for Killboy because he has two or three "usual" spots and one or two "unusual" spots, according to a regular fan of his that we ran into at the start of our run.  You never find him in the same place twice, I'm given to understand.  Further, sometimes he has Killgirl or one of his other buddies helping out, so there will be more than one venue for photography.  You just gotta ride the ride, and wave if you can.

We rode from Athens, TN (at the end of Cherohala) to Texarkana, TX the Saturday after the Dragon.  Makes for a sore butt, don't it?

Ride safe, and keep those road reports coming.

Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything. - Charles Kuralt
