I want to replace the horn cover on the Valk I bought due to rust & age.. (don't know if it's stock or not) So I bought a Cobra horn cover for it... but doesn't seem to fit because of the larger circumference of the horn...

Anyone else had this problem?

I have different horns but what you could do is blast off the rust and roughen up the chrome and paint it to match your bike.   Im sure you could even have it powder coated. cooldude

On my '99 and 2000 tourer that is the horn on the left that came with the bike.

It looks like the Cobra cover just sticks over the center of the OEM cover....

Good ideas! Clean up the old cover and paint it. Then put the new Cobra cover over the center of the "old" cover.  cooldude

You can remove the rust with oxalic acid.  Get wood bleach/cleaner in the paint department at Lowe's/Home Depot for $14 - it is already diluted.  Let the part soak in the liquid over night and the rust will be gone.

I believe the 97 & 98 Valks had a smaller black horn that allowed covers like the Cobra to just snap onto the horn to dress it up. I think 99 and up they went to the larger chrome horn like the one you have.

Do yourself a favor and sell the horn cover, buy a set of used car horns from the local junk yard, install them with a relay, and then be happy and loud. Plus the Valk looks cleaner when the stock horn is gone with the car horns mounted under the swingarm.
