My ridin' bud Paul ( Wimp ) and I took off friday morning making our way across The Dragon to hook-up with Mike ( hupcap ) and Paul ( Thumper ) just outside of Robbinsville, North Carolina. The weather folks was claimin' we would stay dry on friday... They lied ....Actuality we did'nt get wet until about the last 25 miles of the ride the rest of the day was just wet roads. We rode down to Georgia to hang out with Paul ( Thumper ) . When we rolled in his garage he said " My house is your house " . Thank you Paul for the hospitality  cooldude

We had planned to ride saturday however severe weather had other plans with tornado sirens blastin' away most of the day before noon.We jumped in Paul's truck and took a ride over to Stone Mountain Park .Stone Mountain is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock in Stone Mountain, Georgia. At its summit, the elevation is 1,686 feet (513 m) amsl and 825 feet (251.5 m) above the surrounding area. Stone Mountain granite extends underground 9 miles (14 km) at its longest point into Gwinnett County. Numerous reference books and Georgia literature have dubbed Stone Mountain as “the largest exposed piece of granite in the world". This misnomer is most likely a result of advertisement by granite companies and early park administration. Stone Mountain, though often called a pink granite dome, actually ranges in composition from quartz monzonite to granite and granodiorite. Stone Mountain is well-known not only for its geology, but also for the enormous bas-relief on its north face, the largest bas-relief in the world. The carving depicts three figures of the Confederate States of America: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis.

Thanks for showing up to ride with us and thanks for buying lunch  cooldude  We stayed pretty much dry across Blood Mountain but the roads was wet so we did'nt play . Rained on us good around 25 miles from Paul's place and we rode into the garage wet.You ever been to Stone Mountain ? We stopped on the way back to his place to check this out.

The weather reports were calling for rain all weekend long so when I called Wimp at 8:30 Friday morning he told me they were checking tire pressure and were getting ready to head out.  At that point I knew it was "game on" so I got ready to go.

I had gotten chemo the day before and was feeling a little rough but I threw a leg over and rode up to Andrews N.C. where I met up with Joe and Wimp and Hupcap.

We headed south and had lunch in Murphy N.C. courtesy of Hubcap who picked up the tab

Mike broke off in Blairsville, Ga. and headed for home while we crept home down U.S. 129 over Blood "Paul" Mountain.  At one point we pulled over so Wimp could see a man about a dog...

Duffy joined us for a dinner experience that would take a whole other thread to describe Angry Grin Shocked

The rainy weather made for a good time to do a little motorcycle maintenance...

Saturday was a washout so we headed for Stone Mountain for a little old fashioned sightseeing....

We wandered through this cemetary filled mostly with unknown Confederate soldiers...reminded me so much of my recent trip to Arlington National Cemetary...

Joe is an honorary member of my motorcycle club so I invited him and Wimp to come with me to our annual after holiday party...

I presented a plaque to Duffy as a token of the club's appreciation for the three+ years that he's been our president...

My friend Shelby Maddox came with his wife Sally and his son Brandon who sang me a great rendition of "Red Solo Cup" while we shot pool...kid has talent...
He even sang "Freebird" for you know who....

Joe and Wimp headed for Knoxville Sunday morning under overcast but dry skys.  Before they left I invited my next door neighbor's little boy Brighton over to see the motorcycles.  He loves mine and I always make it a point to honk my horn in front of his house when I'm leaving to ride....he's usually standing in the door way giving me his "ride safe" wave...

The weather sucked and the dirty bikes sat parked in the garage the entire weekend and you know what....didn't matter.  I really enjoyed Joe and Wimp's company and am looking forward to their next visit when the weather will be good and the roads will be waiting.

Thanks cooldude

8 Ball in the Side Pocket.

You can't hook these ole boys up wrong.

Rain or shine they will dine.

Looks like fun even without the sun.

That's one damn big piece of Granite in the back ground.

Good report.

I spent the weekend hole up in the Fall Creek Falls Park Lodge.  Heavy rain, thunder and lightening; followed by fog so thick you couldn't cut it with an axe.
Glad your weekend turned out so good and everyone made it home safe.
