Many of you have met my brother-in-law, Hozzy.  Libby is one of his nieces.  Libby was diagnosed with an optic pathway glioma on Friday, September 3, 2010.  This is essentially a brain tumor (juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma) of the optic nerve.  I don't know the whole story, but I just received an email form him and it sounds like Libby needs surgery.  I don't know her, but I do know what a great group of people we have here, and I have seen what your prayers can accomplish, so I'm asking those of you so inclined, to please keep here in your prayers.

As I said, I don't know the whole story, but if you are interested, here is a link to her web page.

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/libbykern/mystory
Thank you in advance.

Pull's on my heart to see a sick child. If you ever think you've got it bad just take a walk down a hall at a Children's Hospital...May God bless Libby.

Prayers and thoughts are being sent to Libby as we speak.

As soon as I post this, I'll head up to the church and get her on the prayer list.

That way we know at least one person or more is praying for her everyday.

I couldn't agree more.  It is hard to imagine being a child and having to endure such adversity.  I started reading the webpage, I encourage those who haven't, to do so if you have the time.  It will make you appreciate what you have, and realize that things could be worse.

Thank you all for your prayers and replies.

I forwarded a link to this post to Hozz, who sent it on to his sister Karen, who I believe is Libby's grandmother.  I wanted to share her reply and some more recent pictures of Libby.  Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers.

so sweet of you to think of libby and to include all the valkyrie riders. all prayers are welcomed and so very much appreciated. the photo's you posted are when she was first diagnosed and on some heavy duty steroids. i'm sending some recent ones including one from the hospital as she prepares for chemo. would it be okay if i registered her for the shave off sponsorship?...and how do i do that.  i know that kelly and her husband met with the neurosurgeon today and have another neuro oncolgy consult with johns hopkins tomorrow. i'm trying to help out with type of thing when i can. i am sending them your email so that they can see all the kindness coming from afar. thanks from me too.
love,
sis

The bounce back  of a child is amazing.

Just a little help from these friends is all she needs.

God will do the rest.

Is my prayer.
