I was sent  this  20/20 special about old car tires being sold to the public as new ...... look at the  inside of the tire thats facing toward the inside of the car under neath and look for the DOT letters and follow the sentence where there are three or four numbers ...... my tire was made in the 7th week of 08 .... it showed up as 0708 .... you'll have to roll the tire a little and look for the DOT letters .... very helpful to me even though it was an old showing from last year .... Thanks Old Geezer Richard

Yeah....   A friend of mine sent me that video, as well.   I ordered my tire from www.tire-easy.com and they verified the date of the tire and called me back.  When I got the tire it was the same numbers they provided me with on the phone.  But, yes...  Everyone needs to be aware of the danger of riding on an old new tire and the safety that it could compromise.  We only have two to ride on so you better make sure they are good....   Ride safe..

Hey Sugarbear , that is a one of a kind dealership for being honest ..... I just thought about the Darksiders running on CT's for safety reasons .... I bought my Michelin Pilot at Sam's last fall and really like it a whole lot .... won't ever go back to a MC tire again ...... Thanks Old Geezer Richard

not just for Darksiders...my MC tire on rear was manufactured in '02.  It was on bike when I purchased it in '07.  Be sure to check any tire you buy.

Yupper, I knew the date when I installed it, however now I have forgotten it.

I read the code when I bought it and made him bring me 4 tires before I'd take one.

Pissed him off, but I didn't care......  Told him what I wanted and he asked how he was to get rid of these older dated ones.....  Told him to send em back to the manufacturer......

Haven't bought anymore tires there yet either.

Just got my Yokohama A048 and next to DOT it reads FK8K.  Not sure what date that means.  I assume the 8 is for 2008.  Anyone know?

Hey Steelers , look for the DOT letters first and follow the short sentence and look for the three or four numbers ... on my  Michelin tire tire it showed 0708 ... the seventh week in 2008 ..... the numbers won't have any letters at all just numbers only .... Thanks Old Geezer Richard
