Jerry Harvey of PBTF and Ride For Kids was in town yesterday. We made three visits to area Honda dealers and still had time to eat three times and drink a beer.
You may have read Charlie Keller's editorials in Red Rider (HRCA) Magazine? He has shifted gears and is calling on high volume dealers in our area - commuting from Torrence, CA. We just happened to run into him at DFW Honda where he is helping to transform their store into a Tier 5 dealership like Al's. That was a real treat, but the best part of the day for me - we were able to share the family support aspect of PBTF with one of the Honda Suzuki North employees to pass along to his friends fighting the good fight for their child.
Oh, and we helped set up a Just Giving site at Maxim Honda and picked up about $3K they raised at their anniversary celebration earlier this year.
Click here to set up your site.We finished up the day at Joe's Crab Shack for our monthly volunteer meeting where I got to meet Angel and John Bright, Trinity's folks, for the first time. They are putting on a 5K and One Mile Fun Run - October 4, the day before our Ride For Kids, in memory of their daughter. We will have a thread on this event right away!
A couple of changes for this year's ride... We will do the Saturday Volunteer Training on Oct.4th after the Trinity Bright event so we can participate in their first annual event. All proceeds go to PBTF. The other change - Premiums (t-shirts, caps, jackets) will be handed out after you register, before the ride.
We did picked up a couple of new volunteers. If you are not on our volunteer e-mail list and would like to get in on the fun, please drop me an e-mail and/or post in this thread.
Other than that, not much going down yesterday! ~Jeff
