Red and White -Mike Do you know what year that bike is Mike ? Always enjoy seeing you post pictures of Dad Sure wish I had a few more of mine he did'nt like having his picture taken I took one of him out in my garage a week before he committed suicide it's on the shelf in my bedroom  |

Jess, I like Cushmans also. I grew up riding a 1955 Cushman Road King and still have a 1959 Cushman Eagle that I restored several years ago. Painted it '57 Chevy Tropical Turquoise and never even put gas in the tank.

Why would you delete the pictures? You can get external storage cheap these days. Plug it up the the USB port and move them off you hard drive... AND Thanks for the pics. Some nice bikes there for sure.

There is a lot of risk buying a Valkyrie. STD, Tourer, Interstate, SuperValk (research that one). One, you get this grin on your face that most will not understand. Two, you will find yourself leaving early for work, not to have breakfast, but to take a few backroads. Three, your insurance may go up because you got a ticket over the speed limit, not because you were speeding on purpose, but because she begging to go just a little faster. Four, well.......... you will not regret getting one! |

We just think if we decide to go a ways we need more luggage room. How hard is it to fix this bike without a dealer? Jim

Sounds like you are looking for an Interstate. Maybe one with a trailer hitch already installed. Fixing the bike really depends on your skills or how close you are to people that host Wrench Sessions. I have seen a LOT of persons on this board travel 4-6 hours to visit and help others in need. The Valk is a bit nimbler than the GW, I have ridden both. I put quite a bit of luggage on my ride out to Charlotte NC from Amarillo TX last summer. She was top heavy then, but I had a lot of err,,, stuff, to take with me.  |

Green Lantern: I think any time you ride 2 up it is alittle top heavy. That is why with the lower saddlebags you can put the weight lower to balance it out. Jim

I love seeing those old bikes! Thanks!!! When I was a kid and had the aforementioned Cushman, there was a guy who sold BMWs out of his garage not far from our house. I think back then they were R69 & R69S models(600cc ?). I always lusted after a Beemer and finally in '91 I got a K75S. Not the same as a boxer, but it was my BMW. I rode it until I traded it for the Valk but I had always wanted either a R100S or a R100RT, preferably the RT. I really like that R100/7 of yours too. |

I probably had 30-35 lbs in each saddlebag too! Sure would not add that much to a 97's saddlebags that had not been reinforced. The bottom will fall out of these before they break at the mounting bolts.... |
