A jury has convicted Mohammad Shafia, his wife and his son of first-degree murder in the slayings of three of his daughters and another spouse.
Shafia, 59, the murdered girls' mother, Tooba Yahya, and their son, Hamed, are automatically sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
The Shafia sisters, Zainab, 19, Sahar, 17, Geeti, 13, and their 52-year-old stepmother, Rona Amir, died June 30, 2009.
The jury deliberated for about 15 hours before rendering its verdict. Jurors heard from 58 witnesses and reviewed 160 exhibits.
There has been plenty of media attention around this honor killing case
Lets hope this sends a message that honor killings won't be tolerated.

Honor killing......... is the State executing 1st degree murderers (involving special circumstances), not parents murdering their female children because they don't like their behavior. (you'll notice no mention of boy child honor killings)
I had not heard of this particular case, but they are around N America. And I agree and hope it does send a message.... there are certain foreign customs that are NEVER going to catch on.

If this do not send the message i'm fairly certain it will come up again. If my daughter some how messed up i KNOW for sure and for certain i would NEVER kill her. We would sit down and discuss the situation and then her mother would kill her. RIDE SAFE.
