Which restaurant will be the next contestant for best burger?

Let's get some candidates.

I'm thinking that the ride to Meer's Store adds the Meers Burger to the mix.

Just thinking ahead for March.

Does Stackhouse have a meeting room?  How about twisted root?  I know Tom's does not so would have to be a "ride to eat".

StackHouse does not have a meeting room, but the upstairs deck would hold groups as big as we've been having lately.

What Dave said

How about twisted root?

Too loud and crowded for a meeting but they have an outside seating area that would be OK in a pinch.

Personally I think they are both ride to eat locations.

Stackhouse did not impress me.  The upstairs balcony is great but the burgers are mediocre. location poor, parking worse. But I was in good company so that makes up for it.

On the burger war schedule so far, these are the places I've visited and the results:

1) Tom's in Arlington
2) Koffee Kup in Hico
3) Stackhouse in Dallas
4) Sweetie Pies in Decatur

The Koffee Kup surprised me - their half pound medium rare cheeseburger has fresh veggies and had a great flavor and texture.

Some will say that I should have had the Chorizo burger at Stackhouse.  I am sticking with cheeseburgers at each and every place so that I am comparing apples to apples.  If the vote were best places to eat, then Koffee Kup would be on top of the list - those pies would sway the vote dramatically.  Nick & Sam's Steakhouse would be the favorite restaurant, but they don't have burgers.  (We could try Nick & Sam's Grill, though.)

Hope we can hit Twisted Root soon.  Then, a lunch ride for Tom's in Arlington.

If you are truly looking for the BEST burger, would you not try the absolute best burger at the location?  Chorizo burger was probably the best burger I have EVER had.  Juice to my elbows and loving it the whole time.
YMMV

Liberty Burger comes highly recommended though I have not tried the place out yet. Inwood and Forest Lane in Dallas. http://www.givemelibertyburger.com/

It's a different take on the process but I see your point.  I'll go back to Stackhouse and try the Chorizo in the near future.

I will say that the buns were slightly overcooked - guess they warmed them- but it made them a bit hard.  The meat was excellent, though.

I would not starve at any of the places visited so far cooldude

Eli, give us a little warning on your next visit to the metromess and you can become a judge, too!

Why not do the same thing in Houston?  There must be a few decent burger joints.  And when we both come up with our champions, we can then compare them.  Maybe at the Ride for Kids events?

I feel like starting that "War" by myself today, but I'm against certain things. Three of those things are "Fog, Cold and Rain", all at the same time. Riding the 70+ miles to Houston, a breeze. Will keep that suggestion in mind RM. Thanks

Is there a price category?

Best 'cheap' burger joint nomination  - Country Burger, 1700 14th street, Plano, Texas. (just east of Jupiter Road)

"Double double" special: double meat, double cheeseburger, giant fries (good!), and jumbo drink. ~$10

How about Tommy's in Fort Worth off Camp Bowie.  Burgers are decent and they even have fresh cut potato chips.  The chips are really good.

They are still there. They have one at Arlington Highlands, too. They are still greasy, but they aren't as good as I remembered them from when I was growing up.

Wouldn't qualify for DFW Burgers, but just thought I would share.
I have some friends in Colorado that keep sending me links for this place as cruel and unusual punishment for not coming to visit them lately.

http://craverealburgers.com/burgers/

They have all crazy different combinations, this one uses donuts for the bun!  Cheesy
