Hey Everyone!!! Got about 1 1/2 feet of snow here at my house in the past 18 or so hours. Looks good. Won't be able to ride the Valk for a few days as a result...but the roads really look good. Wet tho & at 3:30 AM when I go to work it will be ice. Oh Well...

Was watching that on TV some parts of Colorado got over 6 feet of snow  Shocked  ....If we got that amount here it would shut down everything and forget about buying milk and bread.

Echo Mountain, a popular ski area, got 60 inches in about 24 hours. I don't ski but I am sure a lot of people will be there this week-end.

Just finished clearing the sidewalks, got about 14 inches of snow. Sun came out and the snow started to melt really fast.

About 75 here, wet and everything thinks its spring.  Azalias are blooming, grass is growing, trees are beginning to leaf out.  Think Mother Nature has a sense of humor.

Something is wrong with this picture...... all the driveways and sidewalks appear to be cleared and dry.... yet the street is snow covered and untouched by plow.  Do you not have road crews with snow plows?  Granted that is a residential area, but it also looks like it's been quite some time since the snow stopped.   What's with that?

Took this picture this morning (2/5/12)

From City web site on snow removal priorities, other cities have similar plans

Snow Route and Emergency Information
Residential streets are not plowed except under extreme winter conditions as determined by the director of the Public Works Department. If you have a medical condition and need special access, call the police for assistance. They will coordinate with Public Works to make sure your residence is accessible.

Priority One Routes (Red)
Priority one routes are major arterials and roads that provide access to emergency services (police/fire stations, hospitals, etc). These streets are kept open to provide a transportation system for these facilities in case of emergencies. In a snow emergency, these routes are the first routes cleared and are kept clear.

Priority Two Routes (Blue)
Priority two routes are major and minor arterials, major collector streets and roads that allow access to schools, business areas, grocery stores and service stations. These routes are cleared after the priority one streets have been cleared.

Priority Three and Four Routes (Green and Yellow)
Priority three and four routes are all other major snow routes. Residential streets are not plowed except under extreme winter conditions as determined by the director of Public Works.

We got 24" of snow from this latest event.  Here's a few photos taken from my house.  They did a pretty good job of snow removal.

The city of Broomfield or the Home Owner's Association did a SUPER job with ALL the roads in Broomfield for this snow storm. The big on before they did not do anything. Crazy.

we're 5 to 10 degrees above normal this year.  was stuck for almost a week last year as we live in a wooded area on the backside of a loop with steep hills on both sides of the loop.  Any snow forecast and we'll be parking near the main road.

Yep, did the same thing on Saturday,  just cleaning the lawn up some, didn't really need cutting, just dressing it up a little.  This has not been a normal winter.  We don't get a huge amount of snow and normally get more freezing rain and ice but, snow does happen here.   Last year was the wettest on record here but the temps stayed high enough we didn't have to shovel it.   Though the pictures are very pretty to look at, I'm glad someone else is taking them.

I used to live in Colorado Springs and loved it.  That was a few generations ago, doubt I'd appreciate the snow now.

Let me just put some perspective on the riding seasons for all the Tex and Az guys who think powder is for their rash symptoms. Grin
Although we get snow in Colorado, we get lots of sunshine to melt it away too.  I will usually get out for a ride at least once every month.
Now for ride QUALITY.... pick any canyon into and throughout the Rocky Mountains and it will be drop dead spectacular.  I have ridden parts of the Appalacians, grew up in southern Indiana, and there are a few great roads everywhere, but Colorado is the bomb. cooldude
Now I know there are a few hills in AZ but, I have never gotten burned by touching my bike in the summer sun either.

That should stir it up! Evil
