Hello all. The big valk is restless just sitting in my garage. I am asking others experence with capel tunnel as it relates to riding. I had release surgery on my left hand in September 2011 and had the right hand done the first week of Jan 2012. The left hand/wrist developed numbness and tingling and pretty much stayed that way until it was operated on. The right hand developed more slowly but was getting worse by the day. The time frame from first symptoms to surgery on the left hand was less than sixty days. Left hand currently has no soreness and the right hand still has minor soreness. I rode about a hundred miles in late Dec 2011 before my right hand surgery and had no problems in the left hand. I was on police motors until this came up and am now on four wheels instead of two at work. Anyone care to share any experences with carpel tunnel and riding? Thanks for all replies.

I had both of mine done about 10 years apart. I was riding my bike within a week of each surgery.

I'm not really sure what your question is.

But I feel that a "throttle rocker" allows you to release your grip, and just use your arm to hold the throttle on.

I do this so I don't have any fatigue, while ridding.

Had my right one done last year. Thumb and index finger kept going numb. Follow rehab directions to get strength back. After surgery, Doc says "That was the thickest one I've seen". Anyone else hear that crap from a Dr?

And then there's always basal joint arthritis that will mess with your riding.

Never heard of it?  ???

Throttle rest and a CC or throttle lock may help ya. My HD bud had a broken wrist from a MC wreck. He rides fine.

Been there....done that.....got the T-Shirt......ironically, I had it in both thumbs and decided to get the right one done first since one of the problems I had was as simple as holding a pen to sign my name to anything.  The left thumb was worse and I had it longer.  About two months AFTER the right thumb surgery, the left thumb pain disppeared and has not returned in two years.  Go figur.   Right thumb results are iffy for me.  Not POSTIVE I would do it again but time may be making me forget how bad it was before the surgery.

Yep.  Got a throttle lock AND a throttle rocker.
Take my Aleve and chrongroitin/glucosomene (sp.?) everyday.
Everything helps a little.  Right thumb worse than left.. probably because I'm right handed.
Right now, I'll deal with it because from what I've read its a 4 - 6 month rehap AFTER surgery.  Shocked

But hey!  I'm still riding.  cooldude

I've heard that, but I don't think these ladies were qualified as "doctors". Not medical doctors anyway.
