It started cold and ended cold, but 5 intrepid riders headed to the Shed in Edom for fine food, delicious pie and great brotherhood.

The temperature as I left was 28 degrees at my house.  Met up with Chris (Lucky-1-Chris) on his 99 I/S and his brother Corey on his silver VTX at McDonalds at I-30 and 360 at 8:15am.  I was late due to airing my tires up.  More on that later.  We headed to Rockwall.

Around Hampton, Chris and I noticed that Corey was no longer in formation, so we pulled off at Sylvan and waited.  4 minutes later, he passed us. We had to do a go around to get back on the highway and Corey wasn't in site, so we just kept going.  Just past 2nd Street, saw Corey on the side of the road and he took off and caught up.

Then, at Ferguson, my I/S started a rear end oscillation.  That told me the rear tire inflation had failed - I had let air out, not put it in.  Thought the air gauge was failing, but nope, the air pump did.  Kept going to Rockwall and there, put in 20 lbs of air and amazingly, handling improved.  (Important safety note - Dark Side at 20 lbs pressure is not recommended!)

Dave (Baron) was at the TA and we sat inside for about 30 minutes to thaw out.  While leaving, a gentleman asked us "are you guys tough or are you crazy riding a motorcycle today?".  We replied "both".

KSU at 9:45.  Went down 205 to 80, then to 429 for the start of the twisties.  Then took a circuitous ride to Edom, arriving around 11:45am. John was there on his yellow and cream tourer.  Also present was Elliot (ebbiker1943), who just posted this week for the first time.  His Valk is down for maintenance so he caged in.  6 for lunch.

We took a long time to eat, telling stories and learning about each other better.  Took a few pictures and after nearly 2 hours, it was time to go.

The ride back was good as well.  Corey was tired and had worked 11 hours straight BEFORE the ride so he headed to Van to get a hotel and sleep before heading back to Euless.  The rest of us rode some different roads and at 243 and 19, John left us and headed back to Tyler.

Chris and I rode together until we got back to I-30 and 360 and he headed north.

Total miles on my bike today - 248.5 miles.

It was cold, but I never noticed the cold until we stopped in Edom and when I got back home.

Good ride overall.

I put together a video - hope all of you enjoy it.

Thanks for the ride, Mark, I had a great time today. I got to share the cold wind and a hot meal with a great bunch of folks. It was good to see John again, and I was happy to meet Dave and Elliot. Good times all around. I think Cory made a good call by staying behind and getting some rest, and he made it home at about 1:00 tonight. I think I'd have waited til daylight to head home...

I gotta kick outta the video... Grin

I'm looking forward to next time.

Sorry the Meer's Ride fell through, I was looking forward to a Meer's burger and was glad I caught the cancellation post in time since I would've been on the road Friday.

Nice job on the video, looks like you had a nice run just the same.

Great video  cooldude.

Mark thank for putting together the ride and the video.  Even though it was cold it was great to get out and ride.  It was nice meeting everyone and we are going to have to do it again when it is warmer.

Thanks for the comments on the video.  It was done too fast and had a few errors, which I have corrected.

So, take another look - it's slightly changed but more what I wanted it to look like.

Mark, that video ROCKED.  Glad everyone made it home alright.  Hopefully I can make some rides this upcoming year.  Loved the anvil striking near the end.  Brings back memories.
