Anyone know what  exactly is the difference(s) between the older and newer rear brake rotors.  I am in tereste4d in using a older rotor on a newer rear wheel....99 on a 01. What would need to be done to accomodate the rotor.......
Thanks,

I'm not positive, but I don't think there is any difference between 99 and 01. Cosmetic maybe. Difference is in the 97 rotor I believe.  cooldude

OOPs....I meant a 98 on a 01 wheel.  So the question might more accurately be, if you have a rotor in hand, how can you identify it as to being a early or later rotor.

Hhhmmmm.....it seems there are just two types of rear rotors.  An early model with non-recessed bolt mounting holes and a later model with recessed bolt holes. So if you are trying to buy a rotor from ebay, just determine if it has recessed or non-recessed mounting bolt holes to match your in-hand one....

99 IS, and all models 2000 - 2003, use the newer one.

OK....Thanks, think I got it now.  Not to nit-pick, but the late model rotors do have a undercut of .020 inch  as can be seen in the below pic's.

Thanks All
