Me too, still get some stick time in my friends Vans rv8, neat little aircraft, top speed is 213 knots, cruise at 190. and it if fully aerobatic, but not with me on the stick. Just cannot afford to own an airplane any more.

I miss it too. I had a 1947 Luscombe, loads of fun and cheap to fly. Wish I still had it. Sad

Small world, that was the last plane I owned, 47 Luscombe. 90 hp continental, and no electrical system. Had to hand prop it, but was a fun airplane, great to put around the state boring holes in the air.

Nice stuff.

My brother has a Cessna 172 and get a ride when I'm home every Summer.   He just got his grass airstrip FAA approved, not too far (but far enough) from Detroit Metro.

Years ago (before 911) he let me fly a slow spiral down over a night game at the old Tiger Stadium.

When I lived on Long Island, I had a buddy who had his own plane. He'd give me a call every so often to take a flight with him. I'd drop what ever I was doing and get over to the air field asap, lol. I always offered to split the fuel with him. I love flying.  cooldude

Do they have TSA agents at these little airports or are they only at the bigger ones...?

Several years ago worked for a company that had a Cessna 310B.  Sweet little twin engine 6 seater.  The only thing that souns better that synchronized props is when the Valk settles into a sweet spot for cruising down the road.  Now that's "flying".  Glad you had a good time, Pat.

I soloed and was doing my cross country in a Cessna 152.  Then my first son was born.  I went to the airport and did one more flight, landed, parked and walked away from flying.  Figured being a dad meant I should be more careful and riding a motorcycle was sufficiently dangerous without adding in single engine aircraft. Cry

But I did love it!!!!!

Thanks for the pics, Pat.

No screening... just hop in and take off.
