2007, spent almost a week in the hospital after a gasket in one of our JP-5 filters exploded while pressure testing during a ship yard period. Took a swim in some jet fuel. 2008 Had a bullet ricochet off a hummer bumper and pop me in the right bicep in Afghanistan (friendly fire). Flesh wound, but screamed like a girl, not gonna lie. 2010 Wrecked my CBR 600rr doing 60 on one wheel, (Idiot I know) No helmet either. YOUNG AND DUMB I know when I am older, I'll wish I had taken better care of myself. friendly fire!?! not too friendly is it?

Not really sure. ??? Had a 1500 lbs bull dance on my head which required a ambulance ride. Woke up a few hours later. Got hung up in my rope a few times. These during my rodeo days. Had a factory explosion which we went into, as medics. Got to the door and another explosion happened. Thru us back a few feet. Scarry.
I hope you learned your lesson, when dancing with a bull YOU LET HIM LEAD! (ok sorry, it's that smart A$$ gene rearing it's ugly head)

I forgot one. On July 4 1976, in a fit of patriotism, I blew myself up with a quantity of black powder. Shirtless, the powder blasts into your skin where it finishes burning, 1st/2d degree burns from the waist up; glasses saved my eyes, boy did the burned off full beard stink. I'm not telling how it happened, but stupidity was involved. My nurse on the afternoon shift at the hospital looked outstanding in her tight whites with brightly flowered panties, so I married her some months later. She always said I got burned twice..... and she was right.
The U of Mich hospital was no smoking, so a friend smuggled some in. I stood by the window to smoke, but it was hard to light a match with full bandages on both hands/arms, so I lit the bandages on fire (gauze burns amazingly quickly). Put them out, but could not hide the evidence, and boy did I get in trouble with the nurses.
you are not alone! my buddy from Illinois had a real pyrophile thing going, he got cured from it when he put 1/2 pound of black powder on the ground and lit it with a lighter. 2nd degree burns on 15% of his body and 10 days in the hospital. I remember looking at his hand inside the gauze and seeing impossibly huge blisters it burned up his right hand, arm, shoulder and took about 1/3 of his hair off.

First time, I think it was 6th grade, heard you could make rockets by putting matchstick heads in an old CO2 cartridge. The first one worked great. On the second one, I found that there's a fine line between a rocket and a hand grenade. It went off in my hand when I was packing matchstick heads in, one of them was a little big and lit when I forced it in. Third degree burns on my hand - it was black and crusty at first and they had to cut my fingers apart as it kind of melted them together.
Next time, I was about 26. I had just parked a DC-3 in the field and was chocking it and putting gust locks in as a big storm was coming. I went around to close the door and heard a big crack of thunder and simultaneously saw a big flash, then everything went black. Came to flat on by back about 8 feet from the door getting rained on. Saw that rain was getting into the plane through the open door so I got up to close it and the same thing happened again. When I came to the second time I remember saying f---k this, someone else can close the door. -RP

Smokin' Joe, I grew up in Detroit in the 40's & 50's. It was a great place to grow up then. Not so much now.

Left? Wow, I am not sure but I probably owe one or two. Done my share of stupid things, had some other things happen I had no control over, etc. etc. etc. So, I honestly don't have any left: must be why I ride a little more controlled than I did 20 some years ago...come to think of it, I was probably out then too....maybe I should be walking? Uh, NO!

Got lucky yeaterday while fighting a house fire. After being pulled out to fight from outside in, we were shooting water thru a window. I left my partner to pull more hose over some bushes. There was 6' between me and him. 10'x2' chunk of flaming overhang from the second story fell right between us. It woulda hit me if I was standing next to him. Whew!
