Out past Mars ain't no speed limit -Mojo

« on: February 25, 2012, 07:21:03 PM »

After almost 4 weeks it warmed enough to go for a ride. The roads are clear of snow, the fields east of Denver, not so much. Temps started in the upper 30s and warmed to the low 50s

Headed east on I-70 out to the town of Bennett (20 miles east of Denver), turned south toward the town of Kiowa.

Stopped for lunch at the "South Forty Saloon" in Elbert. Had to park in the mud.

Stopped in Elizabeth for a photo in front of a old bank building, now a attorney office

Rode for 130 miles

Looks like a great ride, Dave.  Your ride was in "my neighborhood"; I live in the Pinery just north of Franktown.  I am still recovering from a double hernia operation a couple of weeks ago so my rides are done vicariously through the forum.

Snow is for SKIING, world class skiing I might add.
In my younger years I strapped my skiis to my bike a few times and did A-basin in june, those were great days!  Two of my passions in one day.

How does the desert heat work for you?   Evil

D Dave
Elbert and their saloon are among my favorites.  I love the "beer garden"(inside joke)
Although I live within earshot of the Stagecoach in Franktown, I still prefer the authetic nature of the South Forty!

Thought about riding, had to work.   :'(Sucks for me! Cry
