I can not remember my last bad day

Taylor MI

WWW
« on: February 26, 2012, 05:47:14 PM »

The last day I will be able to ship is going to be March 11th. As some of you know I need my left hip replaced. This is being done on March 13th. It may be a month or so before I am back into full swing, but we will see. I am having the surgery now so I can be assured of being able to attend INZANE. Thanks to all for your continued support and prayers for my quick recovery.

Seriously, Michael, take good care of yourself and get healed as completely and as soon as is practical.  We'll see you at InZane.

Mike trust me on this one.

Follow the Dr's orders to a 'T' and do all the Physical Therapy exercises, and do them daily instead of waiting for the next session.

They will tell you that you will never know you had the replacement.

Dat is BS, every time we have any kind of a storm I can tell ya 2 days prior to it happening.

Every once in awhile I have a slight problem with mine, but I can usually work out the kinks in a couple of hours or less.   Supposedly I had one of the best Surgeons, but I don't think that makes any difference.   If your body decides to kick in a rejection every so often, it will, trust me.   Would I do it over, YES, even thought it doesn't do 100% correction.    Mine is going on 5 years. I think it is.   All I remember it is the time I never got oldest member in Johnson City cause I didn't ride in.   I couldn't ride at that time.    So, don't be shocked if you can't ride any distance by InZane.   My replacement was also in March, my knee was the next March same leg.

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and advise for a speedy recovery. It is certainly my plan to stick to the docs orders for rehab. The last thing I want to do is miss out on summer. I have a bike trip planned for the first week in June. Going to Charlotte Motor Speedway to drive the race cars. Doc says I should be good depending on rehab of course. Now to respond to a couple queries.

Will the hip be chrome? I actually asked the doc if we could do this. He said that may not be a good idea leaving open the possibility that it might be a good idea. I asked him to research it and get back to me. He has not, I am guessing we are to close to the surgery date to get the hip back from the chrome shop in time, so in short, no.

Maybe we can have a foot race? Well Joe, mines longer!

RJ, I will take your advise and follow the Docs orders to a T. Thanks

My hip & one knee are both titanium.

Not sure what my 1st hip was, it was some kind of plastic, but that was back before I grew up very much.   1957.   The current one is my 2nd replacement.

Mike, stick with the titanium unless you can get carbon fiber, which is even faster & lighter.  Besides, I think you can plate titanium... In either case, you should be able to win the foot race.
