Anybody have experience with these guys?

Had a bad experience with these guys yesterday... Is the service guy always a d**k, or did I just catch him on a bad day?

Did not know of them,,.. I did go to fairly new place a couple yrs. ago in Roanoke,, Bikers Garage,, with my rear wheel and a Metzller 880 mounted with about 100 miles on it to get a patch , right in the middle of the tread. The guy goes off on the tire patch tirade, ,,trying to sell me a new $225.00 tire--- should have been my clue to leave---Then I ask if he would just break my tire bead and I would patch it,,ok  he said, breaks my bead , I say thanks what I owe ya, $20.00 he says.??? $20.00 Really,,, to break the bead on my tire?,,,yep.... Ok.... I  throw a 20.00 on the table & havn't been back since..To bad for him, he's close to me, but not stopping there to get the time of day.

Have you tried Hamm's on Denton Hwy in Watauga? They'll mount tires for 10 a piece, including car tires, and they'll patch for 5. They can't balance, though. Usually takes less than 15 minutes for both wheels. They get on them as soon as you hand them over. They've never scratched any of my wheels, so no worries, but I don't think I'd take custom wheels to 'em.

Well, he's got 3 excellent ratings on Yahoo.  You could go "piss in his wheaties" with a not so nice review or just chalk it up to a bad day.

I hope it was just a bad day.

Long, boring story short: He refused to mount my tires after having them for 2 hours leaving me in a very tight spot at 4:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon.

Oh, and Honda mags are designed to use pull through stems so metal stems will absolutely NOT WORK with our wheels. Dynabeads are scientifically proven not to balance wheels, and they'll even tear up the inside of your tires and wheels.

I'm pretty sure that guy (the owner) is part of the STAR chapter from Richland Hills and I think he has a good rep with them.  Could have been someone who works for him or just a bad day.

Prolly just a bad day. He wanted an additional $90 beyond the mount and balance for unnecessary parts and labor before he'd mount the tires.

I gave him new metal stems to put in, but he said they wouldn't work... Said I needed OEM stems for "liability issues".  $25 for the stems.

My rear wheel didn't have bearings in it when it was dropped off. Said I'd need to pay him $65 to install the bearings before he'd mount the tire. $65 to install. Not swap. One wheel, two bearings, $65.

So we're clear, he wanted $65 to drive in two bearings before he'd mount the tire.

Good guy...

I told him I'd just pick the wheels up. Shortly thereafter I realized that there was nobody else in the area that could mount the tires at 4 pm on a Saturday so I called him back to bite the bullet and eat some crow... Said I'd bring the bearings and pay what he needed (hard call, but I thought I was stuck). He refused to mount the tires no matter what now. Told me to come get my wheels before they closed.

Lots more BS involved, (I deleted it...Smiley) but that's the gist of it.

I believe I wouldn't have had a single problem had I bought the tires from him. Apparently they'll match internet prices for tires, but I'd set the bike on fire and push it off a cliff before I bought tires or anything else from these guys. Guy I dealt with was Brian. Like I said, hope it was just a bad day. I cant find a negative word about the shop anywhere on the internet (except here), so that's prolly the case.

Or maybe it's me.
