was nearly thrown in jail/prison/dungeon for being a 'magician' when he took 10 bibles to a nearby town to sell them. it was considered unnatural to have bibles that were EXACTLY the same. in those days a magician was = a heretic, and you know what they did with heretics?

but they kept after it meeting strong resistance from every side, paper? you can't make books out of paper? there's no permanence, it won't last 1,000 years. books were laboriously copied by monks and scribes taking years and they were done in vellum (lamb skin) but the world changed with the printed word, more and more people became literate (it was considered beneath a noble to know how the read and write, they had people for that mundane stuff) and before too long even commoners could afford to own a book.

it was revolutionary and now we are experiencing another revolution in 'print'. as little as 3-4 years ago it was still all about printing your book, it could be printed 'on demand'. now there are much better ways to get your manuscript in the hands of the masses, upload them in ebook form. the top two are .99 downloads.

got any aspiring authors around here? (of course I know D.M. is an author!)
