« on: March 02, 2012, 03:37:24 PM »

I value most everyone's input and judgement on this board and I'd like ya'll's input.

This has been my winter project.  After saving for, searching for, finding and buying parts for two years, I'm finally making it mine.  I'm still not done with it yet as I've still got some little things to do and add.....nothing major, it's already gone through most of the major changes that I had planned for it.

However, I'm at a crossroads and I'd like everyone's input and opinion.  The Woody's fairing came with the black gell coat and I want to paint it.....but here's the rub.....which way to go with it.

I'm thinking about going total black.  I've already got a like new black tank and black side covers that can go on no problem.  And I've also got a set of black fenders front and rear, but they'll both need a re-spray before I'd put them on.....so if I paint, I'll need to have both the fenders and the fairing painted.

And since I've already got a complete set of black tins and if I change the bike to an all black bike, I won't need to paint the red & white tins....I just can't bring myself to painting them and will probably offer them up for sale.

So here's my question......

Should I paint the fairing red & white, paint the fairing a single color...either red or white, or paint the faring black and do the whole bike in black.....or just leave it the way it is?

What would ya'll do?

paint it red and white.  Keep true to the way your bike was built.  It will look awesome!

Wow, you've changed allot! Pipes, bags, trunk, faring, bagrails. looks great cooldude  If I had all the tins, I'd go Black.
However, every bike I've had has been black, and it's getting boring to me.
I always loved the red & white Valks, very sharp looking. Tough call Undecided

While I like black, I think there's a lot of it out there. My vote is for red and white paint to match.

I've wondered the same question. As much as I love the red/white combo I think it would be too much on the fairing as well. If I do decide down the road I need a fairing I will only do a mono color, and I would lean towards the pearl white. I did the same thing on my bags, however I went with just the solid red there.

That's kinda what I'm thinkin'.....it'd be too much with the fairing red & white....although, I'm thinking it'd look better with a solid color on the fairing instead of two tone.  When I bought the bike, I thought that I'd warm up to the red and white, but I really never have.  It's OK and I'm satisfied enough with it, but somehow, it seems a little much to me.  The wife however, loves the red & white, but she'll be happy just to ride no matter what color it is.

The existing paint on your bike looks very pristine.  Even though I only ride black and chrome bikes, if it was mine, I'd just paint the fairing mostly red, with a little bit of white to match the two-tone of the stock bike colors.  And sell the tank and tins.

I really like the looks of your bike with the leather covered bags and trunk cooldude cooldude

I think it would look good with black and white starting up front (with not to much white) and it blending toward the back of the bike with the solid black leather. Little bit of red pinstriping and you would have a one of a kind.

Very sharp bike in what ever you do Cool Cool Cool

I'm surprised at all of the red & white votes.  I wouldn't have thought that there'd be that many and figured that there would be more black votes....especially considering the recent show your Valk threads lately.

They have what is commonly known as Red/White envy. That's why most settle for Black. It is easiest to explain that if you can't have what you really like your mind reasons it by negative reason. This is why they think Black is fastest. They can't have a Red/White, so they have to satisfy it by thinking Black is faster.  Roll Eyes

I used the headlight kit and the speedo/tach kit from Daryl at fX6 Custom.   Both Daryl and Glenn from Woody's said that I'd have to use the one from Daryl to make it look right......and it does....very nicely I think.

Now that is one absolutely awesome looking bike! I dont know that I've ever seen a nicer red/white and I'm jealous.

Anybody who would take a perfectly beautiful red and while bike and make it black has to be color blind... And without taste!

BF... I think you'd be doing a great thing to paint the fairing in some pattern of red and white.
