I'm due to replace my final drive gear oil.  Would like to switch to Mobile-1 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lubricant.  Should I do it or should I stay with the original Hypoid Gear Oil SAE-80?

I use it, runs cool, no issues. That said, I use Mobil synthetic in most of my vehicles.

I've used Amsoil 75w 90 for the last 60,000 + miles with no issues.

I change it with every other rear tire change, which is probably overkill.

Any synthetic in that grade will work for at least 20K, if not 30K miles easily if you drive more per year.

I changed mine last year for the first time guessing since 2001 when I/S was new from previous owner and after  10 years and about 22K, the oil was pretty gunky and dirty with some sludge on the oil drain plug, definitely needed to be changed after 10 years though.
