Went for a ride yesterday up to the hospital to visit my SIL who had surgery last week.  We rode past this accident on 288 with a sheet covering a body.  Sad  We were in the back up on the freeway and passed probably 20 minutes after it happened.  What a somber scene.
It turns out that a father and son were riding to a birthday party on a bright sunny day, stopped to call for directions (or look at a problem on one of the bikes), and the father was rearended by a drunk driver.  This happened at 1:30 in the fricken afternoon!!!

Please be extra safe out there when riding.  They ARE out to kill us.

No how hard it has been tried, seems the drunks just can't be kept off the highways. Prayers up for the Family.

Damn I hate to hear about that...  Cry

When I was stuck in traffic I used to always say "For this wait, I better see a body!"... until one day I did...

...I don't say that anymore...

So sorry to hear about this killing of another person by a drunk. I hope he gets the maxium sentence and then some. I have no use for people who drive after drinking. About two weeks ago a biker was killed on the road I travel everday and again by a drunk. Several people I know call the house to check on me but luckly I was already at the house when this killing took place.

What a horrible story.  I've never understood why this type of accident seems so common.  Is it target fixation?

I must be.  That road has a big shoulder.  Sort of like the drunks slamming into police cars with the lights on at night.

My neighbor saw it happen.  He described it differently.  His 4 or 5 year old son was with him and saw it as well.

I don't really care exactly how it happened, but a father died on the side of the road, run over by a drunk, and HIS son saw it all.

Prayers for the victim's family.
