as for buying "raw milk" my parents use to buy milk from the farmer across the road every single year around thanks giving, along with about two gallons of fresh cows blood.  we'd have Ricotta cheese in our Lasagna and fresh blood pudding.  didn't care for the pudding, but since we lived in wisconsin were no one ever heard of Ricotta cheese we had to make our own and the best way to make it is with fresh, raw milk. ( ah, Lasagna, the traditional thanksgiving meal!!)

i don't know if people were trying to copy our lasagna, but when i tried a friend's lasagna and they put "cottage cheese" in it as a replacement i just about threw up!  had to be polite and say "yummy".  i now avoid lasagna not cooked in my own kitchen at all costs!

I grew up on raw milk fresh from a neighboring farm.  It was total honor system.  Walk in with your jug, fill it from the tank, and drop the money in the can on the shelf.  Then they took out the bridge between our house and the farm and mom started buying milk at the store.  Still to this day I can't drink white milk.
